Go to your local Tractor Supply.
Purchase a 5 gallon bucket and 1 gallon of molasses,
make a ramp to the top of your Mouse Tar Pit. DONE
Re-fill as needed, and throw out when filled.

Time to get d-con rat or mouse poison. Other brands work. It’s warfare time.. they have nearly destroyed my law tractor, my son’s Subaru, and a past GMC Sierra. You have to de- populate your area. Only problem is the dead mice are toxic to scavengers. My bird dog ate one and was sick. I bought a dozen old style traps while using the poison. In one night all were sprung, it took about a week before the traps weren’t all sprung. Place them under your truck. It will work but it’s warfare.

Decided against the sonic and spray deterrents after reading your comments. Going at this the old fashioned way has gotten rid of 4 mice so far. Thanks for the input!

    Hey Folks,

The dealer replaced my knock sensor harness. I did an oil change yesterday and found this bolt on top of my skid plate. Any idea where it goes? Intake, plenum, etc?

I don’t think they would have replaced the bolt they dropped.

I know they dropped it, not me.

    Thanks!

    Edit:
Pretty sure it’s this part number.

That looks like one of the bolts to hold the plastic plenom on. Look at the right side bracket if it's missing. I think there is 3 of these bolts, front, side and rear. Let me know if you need a pic. I did mine over the winter and memory is gone.

Oh, and its hot out so I give my "friends" a little saucer of anitifreeze in case they get thirsty!

If you have a picture, that would be great! I see a few spots where it looks like a bolt “could” go.

Yes, try these 2 places front and right side.
Let me know if you need to circle. I had to run out and snap these and don't have my photo editor handy.

    Thanks!

Both sets of bolts are here. Maybe I got lucky and they replaced what they dropped?

Heard back from the dealer. They remembered dropping the bolt and it was replaced, so we’re all good!

My Dad used to have a big problem with squirrels chewing up wiring on his trucks. He started putting a section of a coyotes tail in his engine bay and hasn't had a problem since. Could be difficult to come by depending on where you live, but reportedly very effective.

When I lived out in the sticks in Kansas, we had about half a dozen to a dozen cats at any one time that would hang out around the house. The "Riffraff" as we called them were very efficient little killers; never had any issues with rodents or snakes other than having to dispose of the bodies after the slayings. Didn't allow any of them in the house, but I was more than happy to take advantage of the free pest control.

I also wouldn't put poison in or on the truck. Somewhere the garage or surrounding area would be a better bet as long as friendlies can't get to it.

Theory: New Soy Based Wiring Harnesses & Soy Based Coated Wires are more susceptible to Rodent Damage

i am posting this because I have a number of vehicles parked outside my three car garage and twice in the past 10 months my 2023 Tacoma TRD Sport 4WD has been in the shop due to rodent damage. My 2013 Tacoma TRD Off-Road has never had the issue, my 2012 FJ Cruiser no problemo, my 2010 Land Cruiser never had a problem, neither other vehicles including my 2003 HUMVEE etc. Is the soy based wiring causing a much bigger issue within the automotive industry? Almost a decade ago my 2015 BMW 328i had $1500 in damage.

No, we do live in the country, 80 acres of pastureland and have rodent traps out, poison, and glue traps but rarely see the damn critters or their evidence but clearly between my 2013 to 2023 Tacoma’s alone it makes no darn sense that the issue occurs with the new one.

I have not read through this thread. But you need to remove plastic black windshield cowel, and then put metal screen over the air duct vent.

knock on wood I have had no problems since doing this, and my truck sits a lot.

Had to do the same just recently on my new car, over $5,000 worth of mouse damage repairs with an insurance claim.

All vents are now screened, knock on wood I think they are out for now.

    F***ing Mice.
