The Eibach springs are longer than stock plus they have a slightly higher spring rate.
To achieve the same amount of lift with the stock springs they are compressed more.
Spring rates are pounds per inch compressed.
if a spring is say 600 Lbs. rated it take that much pressure to compress it 1". Compressing it 2" requires 1200 lbs.

So although the Eibachs are longer and have a higher spring rate you are not preloading or pre compressing them.
I think 540 lbs. is the stock rate. Now compress that 2.5" and you have a rate of 1350 with less spring travel left.

I am not sure if the 2.5" mark is actually spring compression distance or total lift on the truck.

Using the same numbers an Eibach at 620lbs rated and 5100s set at 0 starts off at it's 620 lb and 1.6" apx. higher due to spring length.
At the .85 max setting I believe on the 5100s with the Eibachs, it is 527lbs and lots of spring travel left and sitting apx. 2.5" higher.
These are static compressed settings without the truck weight added.

I have been wrong before but I think this is how I understand it.
Feel free to help me out if I am way off here.

I think they would fit but the stock shocks may go away faster with the stiffer spring rates.

what do you mean by go away?

I thought that the 5100 and blue/yellow trd shocks were IDENTICAL except for the adjustable part...do they have the same valving?

From what I have read here they are not up to the stiffer spring rates and will fade fast.
I have not tried this but I think some guys here have.

Kind of depends on the future use. If you are going to off road it pretty good you may want to get the 5100s.
I really like the dampning they provide compared to the stock shocks and softer springs.
If you are only driving on the street they may hold up.
Check with Chris 4X4 as he is the Ayotola of Shock and Springola!!!!

If you want to save money in the long run I would get the 5100s now and save the reassembly and alignment that will have to be done if you decide to upgrade later.

On the other hand you can get a bunch of stock barely used Bilsteins on here for cheep if you want to use them in case they wear out quick.

I'd like to have seen what your truck looked like with the Eibachs and 5100s on the front, and before the AAL on the rear. I know you probably had it all done at the same time, just wondering.

I might do that to my DC, just the springs in the front and 5100s all around. Seems like that would level it out nicely.

I"m sure Toytec is good but I'd also recommend talking with Downsouth Motorsports. Especially if this truck lifting stuff is relatively new to you. Ask for Sony. He'll sell you anything thing you want but is very willing to take the time to understand what you are trying to achieve and then tells you the options to get there. Good guy.

Currently my truck is at Iron Pig Off Road (IPOR) I'm having the Eibach springs with billies installed AND a 1/2" spacer. Should get 3.25" out of it...
We'll see. Rear ... Dakars with the overload spring and the All-Pro flip kit.

    255/85/16 KM 2's will follow....... :):):) I can't wait.......

Just an FYI but I got about an inch of lift out of the Eibachs on my stock TRD Billys. I think the fact that I am 4x4 and a double cab may have played a factor. When my stock shocks where out I am planing on running the same setup you listed above.

Ride is a little stiffer than stock and the truck handles alot better.

Dave, your truck looks great! Where did you buy the coils & spacer? I have the 5100s & have not yet installed due to the fact I am going back and forth on the coils. I have the non-trd coils & the TSB. I think I am going to go in the same direction....follow your Impulse Red lead. :D

Judy, I got the coils and spacer from Toytec on this site. If you go to the vender section you can send a PM and get a forum discount. 5% I think. It's funny you say your following my lead, I think I'm going to get the gunmetal FJ rims before I change the tires. Just waiting to see a picture of yours when you install them! The trucks are close to twins.:woot:

    I agree completely;

I have eibach coils and set the front Billy's @ zero. The coils do all the work and my truck rides great. I thought about .85 but after much reading and research on this site, I went with setting the front Billy's @ zero.

Just personal preference. But like you I would rather the coil does the lion's share of the lifting not the front shocks. To each his own. They all look good!

Eibach coils, Billy's x4 fronts set @ zero. 265/75/16 Michelin MS'2's. Love the stance and the ride. Drives straight as an arrow and no drifting at highway speeds. Grillcraft upper and lower shipped as we speak. TOYOTA emblem ordered and shipped. Will post pics after install. Yes, sipping the Tacoma world koolaid here...:)
