If I drove my tacoma like the one in the video it would feel like the front end was going to self destruct. I can barely go off road at all without the dreaded clunking

Me last weekend in my '19 Sport in 4-Low, watch me shift into 2nd and hit that hill hard lol! My Eibach's hard at work.

Oh, and no "thunks" other than slamming into the ruts.

How much lift do you have from the coilovers ? It seems some have no trouble and others have the noise

2.5" factory UCAs 1" block in rear. Super happy with my setup.

You must be one of the lucky ones. I have a little over 2” and 1” block in the back and that would sound like my tru k was going to break in half from the front end

FWIW I had a similar issue so this might be worth a try as a solution. The harsh bump noise may be similar to what was causing the same issue with my readylift 6112's. I have not had a close look at the eibahs in person but he top hats seem to be similar in setup. Alloy bracket sandwiched between 2 rubber isolators top and bottom.

When there is not enough preload on the isolators the loading will reverse from the shaft pushing up from the shocks natural expansion to the spring compressing the top isolator with much more force. If there is not enough pre load in the isolators the bottom isolator will become slack resulting in a harsh noise/sensation, when the wheel switches direction again (pointes out in a video several pages back).

Upon inspection everything always looked correct with the component assembly and retaining nut (isolators showing some preload buldge). As the nut bottoms out on a shoulder on the shock shaft, adding tigntness does nothing. I tried adding a couple washers to increase the preload on the isolators and all noise went away.

We just drove around, trying to replicate the issue and of course…the truck decides to drive normal. We got close to replicating it though on some speed bumps but their surrounding streets are paved really smooth. :frusty:

I’ll wait and see what they find. If no solution on their end, I’ll bring this up.

With adding the washer, did it change the way the truck drove/performed on and off pavement?

Other than getting rid of the noise and harsh noise. No negative effects from it. When choosing a washer, just make sure it is large enough to clear the diameter of the shock shaft/shoulder (i reused some of the old suspension washers that came off in the install)

    Not fair..

Have them take it on a test drive where they do their road "test" like in this video.

Could be a fair actual diag.

They took the truck out on their own. Not sure if they found anything when they came back. I’m stuck in a room. Truck might be on the lift.

I will try this on Saturday/Sunday and report back.

Your talking about the bottom of the coilovers assembly, correct?

This is the bushings that are part of the top hat assembly. This can (and should) be done with the vehicle on the ground. This will keep everything compressed when taking the nut off.

Care to circle on an image where it is that you are adding the washer?

Not trying to be a jerk but I recommend getting some in person assistance. This is safety related and even though done on the vehicles weight, getting familiarity with the dangers is highly recommend.

Given your response I would assume you are referring to the highlighted nut, which yes is a bit risker then others.

You just used a single washer for this? Tightening the nut wouldn't yield the same result?

Yes I was referring to that circled but. There is typically a shoulder on the threads that will bottom out on and stop preloading the rubber bushings. The washers that are already on the shock may also bottom out and that would need checking too. How many washers and how tight? Have no spec other than "made them slightly pudgier than before".
