Also did a little brain storming and fabricating.

Had a mounting bracket, from Paranoid Fab, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with. When I ordered it, I asked them to not cut out the holes for the switches (to give me more options)

I had some magnets laying around (everyone loves playin with magnets). They were 1 inch round... so I drilled 1 inch holes in the bracket.

And mounted the magnets with some automotive goop (good stuff)

Then I cut me a piece of sheet metal and put it in the phone case of an old phone I had layin around.

Mounted the bracket in place of the ash tray... (now where the hell am I supposed to keep my pack of smokes?)

Then, via a bluetooth OBDii reader and the Torque App I can monitor my temps and other stuff.

Pumped to see what yours end up like. I don’t know how you want your wired but for mine I used these halos (boring only white) and they are always on unless my Peking lights or headlights are on. Figured it might help heat management. I used this relay and connected wires to the halos, ground, ignition switches power, and the parking light wires. If you want more info let me know. This is what mine looks like if you are interested. (100mm halo with everything blacked out)

I was in the same place. Definitely not a professional job but I’m more than happy with how they look and the wiring isn’t half bad compared to some of the other stuff I have done. I think some red (or amber if you are worried about legality) halos would look good on yours.

There is much more complicated stuff that people do to them but I did what I felt comfortable with without spending much so if I want I could make a nice set in the future.

Hell yea matt . you will love them. So after my accident, my lights were slightly off. I was able to fix them, or fix it. Zip ties for the win..lol... I couldn't justify 500 to $600 in lights when I could fix with J-B Weld. I don't need color changing lights. Yours will look sick. Can't wait to see the outcome

I'm planning on doing Demon eyes and at least one set of halos. My main thing is figuring out what I need to order for controllers... I just need to call TRS and let them tell me what I need.

I'm kind of waiting right now because I'm still figuring out how much it's going to cost to help my kid get started with this...

    lol

I'm already in it for a replacement steering rack, steering wheel, driver air bag, turn signal switch, Tundra brakes, and LCA bushings

I'm probably going to start a build thread on that one too... oh boy.

Was able to get the brackets for my @SpikerEng hood struts installed.

Unfortunately, the placement of my second battery is going to be a problem :(

The hood struts are great... easy to install... absolutely no problems. But they hit the aux battery on the passanger side. So I'll have to reconfigure my mount to allow room for the strut when the hood is closed.

My Tcase has been seeping a little oil. Not sure if it's one of the input/output seals, or if it's the gasket maker I used to seal the 2 sides when I reassembled the shell after doing the work to install the twin sticks.

I'll have to drop the case to reseal the shell. So I decided to figure out which input/output seals are there to replace.

Here's the diagram. I ordered all of the seals and stake nuts associated with the input/output shafts.

Ordered on Wednesday from McGeorge Toyota in Virginia... to my suprise, they all arrived today.

I have got to say... I'm seriously impressed with McGeorge Toyota right now!

Ordered OTREs 2 days ago... they are already here. And the price was the best I found anywhere.

    Where does the ABS go?

    Awesome build!
If I had to explain what a good first gen build thread is is like, this would be the thread. Ingenuity, resourcing, modesty and a badass truck.

I didn't want to mount it in front of my radiator and obstruct it. Was having problems with running hot (engine) and I was trying to keep everything in front of the radiator clear.

I should have ditched it. I feel that it's super dangerous in this truck.
I had the opportunity to ditch it when I did my 4x swap (my 4runner spindles were non-abs) but I swapped over to my abs spindles. Was worried about insurace/accidents etc. :(

Thanks man... really appreciate that. It's really a labor of love. Now that the kids are out on their own (for the most part) I have the time and funds to really build a truck like I've always wanted to do... but I definately look at every way I can to make the dollar stretch some more (to allow for more mods lol)
