Is it possible to convert a 2004 single cab to electric door locks?

yes, it all depends if you want it all using oem parts or aftermarket stuff.

aftermarket power windows are cheap crap in my opinion but there are kits to add power window or locks or both, just search on ebay to see the kits.

often you can find local shops who put in these kits for you if you don't want to do it

mine had no power at all and I put in all oem original toyota parts to get power mirrors, locks, and windows. cost me right around $800 by buying everything used from salvage yard and making my own wiring harness to go across the dash to power it.

this thread follows my learning about how to wire it all up and a few mistakes I made along the way: http://www.customtacos.com/forum/15-interior-audio-electronics/180674-2004-door-wiring.html

Thanks for the write up man! I'm gonna stick with the manual windows and mirrors but I do want power locks. Thanks for the link!

$20?! That's gonna lock me out of my own truck when it stops working three weeks after I install it. At least it seems like it would....

Im getting ready to install these door lock actuators along with alarm system on my truck. I had these actuators on a s-10 that I owned and never had an issue with them. Not to mention you can still use your key to unlock the door if something goes wrong.

yes they are cheap little things but nope, they wont interfere with anything if they do go out one day, the way they work is, they tug on the door lock rod to lock and unlock it just as you would push or pull the door lock knob so it cant interfere with its function even if it does go bad.

the aftermarket power lock actuators are all the same so you can pay $80 for them if it makes you feel better about them but they are all made by the same company. all it is is an electric magnet that makes the shaft slide up or down and the shaft connects to the door lock actuator rod that moves when you push or pull the door lock tab up or down.

if you want oem locks then you have to get the entire door latch lock actuator mechanism and they will average $250 each new or you $100 each at the salvage yard, you then need to buy door wiring harnesses, and I am pretty sure you have to install the power window switch panel because its wired into the same plug. let me put it this way, you can add power windows easy for only the extra $60-$75 cost of the window regulators

The truck is so small there is no reason. To have power locks imho I can unlock the passenger door without even leaning over :p

I know but I just want the ease of use and being able to have electric locks for only $20. Does anyone know how to get that second gen "beep" on lock and unlock?

I had a basic viper alarm installed on my truck without motion sensor and opted for the shop to add electric locks which were an option for the kit and the lock actuators came from Viper and fall under the Viper warranty. Essentially, the alarm is armed when I lock the doors and disarms when I unlock it. The alarm beeps when I arm or disarm.
