After searching i was unable to find any helpful information regarding a trigger wire for the a/c system. Looking for people to post information on the subject.

From what i understand there is a 5v trigger wire going into the a/c compressor but i would like to make a visual post of different locations for accessing this trigger like where the air conditioning wires run to and from.

The idea behind this would be so people can add a 12v efan in front of their ac condenser if they want. It would also function as a secondary fan on for people running an electric fan system so the fan gets turned on while in bad traffic or show Offroad travels.

    Have fun and mod away

This is good info. They used a 4 post Mexican produced Tacoma pressure switch? I would enjoy not having to tap wires at the compressor if i can help it.

There is no 5 volt trigger wire going to the AC Compressor. Just 12 VDC going to the magnetic clutch from a relay.

    No.

The fan motor has 12 VDC on it all the time when the truck is on even when the fan is turned off. The fan comes on when the ground is applied via the AC Control Fan Switch. The resistor controls the current and fan speed except on high speed and it goes directly to ground.

12 V Heater Fuse to Heater Relay to Blower Motor to Blower Resistor to Ground (directly to ground if on HI speed).

I don't see where the purple wire comes into play with the fan motor running.

On the schematic prints the purple wire from the IG1 Fuse supplies the following AC Control Mode select circuit, Air Mix Servo, Air Vent Mode Servo, and the AC Amplifier. Nothing going to the fan.

    You are correct caribe makaira.

Never mind I misunderstood the OP. He wants a trigger to turn on an electric fan added on for the Condenser.

I was incorrect in my understanding of the question... :(

I just did this over the weekend. It was pin 3 or pin 5 of the relay. Can’t remember off hand.

After living with the current setup for a few days, I think I may find another trigger. Since the clutch cycles on and off regularly, so does the fan.

I would rather have the fan continue to run during the compressor off time. Basically what I want to do is have the fan triggered on anytime the A/C button is illuminated.

So if I’m understanding this drawing correctly, the grey wire is what I want.

A little something every chance we get.
Everything I want - except a photo or two!! I just installed a Flex-a-Lite 678, with controller this morning. At least the mechanical part. The fan controller has a thermostat, and actually TWO power input wires for control. There is a RED, which can be unswitched using a controller (this lets it run until the t'stat setting is reached on cool of), or it can be a switched without using a controller - will run all the time the key is on. The second is the GREEN wire, and you could call that the "trigger wire" - it wants to connect to the AC clutch control, which I see as terminal 5 in the diagrams.
My deal, is if I could FIND THAT WIRE not way, way, way down in middle earth - I'd be eternally grateful! I see reference to the fuse box connection, but I think that would be the equivalent of terminal 3, which I bet is always hot. Terminal 1 is the switch control from "somewhere" in the mystery of Taco wiring, but probably would not like some "odd load" on the CANBUS.
So, anyone see a great place to grab that number 5? Thanks. I've been looking all afternoon (after it hits 103 in the driveway, I'm going in!)

If you unbolt the fuse box and free up the harnesses, you can catch it at the back side of the relay.

My controller starts at 60% fan speed wether it’s reached the thermostat temp or the A/C input is triggered. I just decided to have the fan come on with ignition at 60% and then it will ramp up to 100% as the engine warms up.

It’s hot here even in the winter, so my A/C is always on anyways.

Thank you very much, loginfailed! I shall look up and find that relay. The fuse box is going to be easier than middle earth! And being in Lockhart TX, it's true that the AC will probably be engaged until Thanksgiving!

It’s this one. The pin you need is the one oriented farthest to the right in the pic.

Loginfailed, you have my eternal gratitude! I will be sure to add good pix to my collection for this effort, and share for all! I know taking the box off is a pain, but nothing compared to going down to the bottom! I'm just too old for that. Thanks so much for taking the time - and I love your build pix. Way over my level, but I'm pretty happy just making this old Red live up to it's future promise. I've done a lot, but this one is intended to run those heavy errands in relative comfort! So, thanks again.

WHOA! I just put a fan in - this is a spaceship! But I will post the upside down fuse box connection tomorrow.
