Electronic Rust Inhibitors

I have seen ads for an electronic rust inhibitor. It is a box you wire to 12 volts and its supposed to stop the chassis and body from rusting. Does anyone have experience or opinion on this device? I am considering spending $120 on one.

 

I know boats have these things. Unsure as to their effectiveness though.

Cathodic protection, works best if the object is submersed in water, which is why this is a common rust preventative on ships. As for vehicles, it's more or less a wealth preventative device, sold by scammers to help keep money out of your wallet.
