Photo is when I got it back to camp. Got it the day before close to dark. Took it apart, the gutless method, and hung it in a tree. The next day took me four trips to pack it out to the truck. Only about 2 miles, but up & down hills and a tree climb each time. So, I was bushed and did not want to climb a tree again. They never fall down where it is easy. I believe the price I pay in sweat equity is a small price for life I took.

Well done and congratulation. It makes the steak taste that much better.

There's no such thing as an easy elk recovery in the mountains. Some of course are easier than others. More than once I've had to recover 2 in the same day. Always an adventure when you elk hunt.
