I have a 2001 Tacoma open diff I bought a elocker complete rear axle for it. (I’m the bed of the truck right now) harness is cut a foot up from plugs. When I spin the yoke (driveline) the hubs don’t spin. It spins smooth with no grinding noise though. My question is is the rear end shot? Or is it not engaged at all because the elocker doesn’t have power. I know nothing about elocker rear ends so I’m going toward being blown but not sure

An e locker rear diff functions like any other open diff when the locker is not engaged. When you turn the pinion it should do something at the hubs.

I REALLY suggest that you do some more research on what you're getting into, and how differentials and lockers work in general.

Swapping the whole axle housing in is all good, but have you done the research on what to do with wiring to engage the locker?

Did you do your homework on the gearing of the new axle vs the existing axle?

Are you going to rebuild the new axle before the swap? New bearings, seals, etc.. It's pretty un likely at this point that any tacoma axle wouldn't need to be serviced. Hell, even the 3rd member is probably due for a tune up. It's all a lot easier to do before you stuff that thing under the truck.

Yeah I have the wiring diagram for the plugs to switch I’m going to splice wires. Just threw me off because the gears all seem fine. No noise or hangup etc. I’m taking the shafts all the way out pretty sure it’s a snapped shaft. And I’m if so going to just swap shafts over from my other axle with new axle bearings and seals

Be hard to comprehend an elocked with a broken shaft still functioning as it should. If the PO managed to snapped the shaft, there's bigger issue.

The truck I got it from was totaled in a head on. Think it may have happened in the wreck.

If the shaft snap during an accident, the third member will be destroyed. The shaft is stronger than the third member.

Thanks for the input. I’m going to tear it apart this weekend and check it out. If it’s screwed I’m gonna see about getting a refund (which I doubt I’ll get)

What about spinning 1 drum, the other side spin? What about the flange?
