    :anonymous:...can someone tell me how to take the stupid little black clips out that hold the mudflaps on... they just like regular plastic pop rivet type deals but i cant get them out.........btw did i mention that i'm a licensed mechanic?:smack:

    Pull out on the center. You should see a small notch that you can fit a flathead behind. Once that pops up, pry out on the base.

    It's one of those Canadian cats. They need to learn different attacks other than the standard "meow and claw" in order to defend themselves against penguins and beavers.

    just get something small to push the center in and they usually pop out and you can reuse them. Dont pry them out.

    these are actually really easy to take out. If you look carefully there are two collars on them, and on the one closest to the fender there should be a hole that lets you slide a little flat blade screwdriver in. Just stick a flat blade in there and push the top collar out and then it should separate and you can just pull it out.

    If you use two flat head screw drivers (one from each side) you can pretty much assure your self you wont end up ruining any in the process.

    There is two indents on each side of center piece where you can fit the screw driver tips on each side.

    Same here, but it's good intel to store in that part of your brain you know is going to be erased by the time you need it. Getting old sucks.

    I actually cut mine today. I'm very happy with the result. I removed about 3-4 inches and now I have the protection of the flaps without all the ugly.

    TCDoug, what did you cut it with? You took it off to cut it? Did you round the corners? Isn't it hollow?

    Pyrite - Cut mud flaps, AVS deflector, WeatherTech floor liners. Silver Streak - Running boards for wife, AVS deflector, Kenwood DNX6140.
    I did remove the flaps for cutting. I cut them with tin snips and smoothed and trimmed them out with a file and razor blade.

    I marked where I wanted to cut using the bottom of the uncut flap. Just lined them up to the height I desired and traced it to keep the same contour. For the second one, I used the cut off portion to trace out where to cut the second flap. Very easy and quick.

    They are not hollow. I will say this though.... the rear flaps are harder to cut through than the front. Still not a big deal though.
