I bought a brand new TRD Off Road a couple of weeks ago and am slowly getting used to all the new technology that it comes with. This is the first vehicle I have ever owned that has electronics on board, and honestly wasn't sure how I would like it. I am glad to say that not only am I liking all the things this truck will do for me, I am actually embracing it. So much comfort and convenience these days! Amazing how this truck can read my mind and makes my life so much easier.

For instance it knows when there is a car sneaking up on me to the left or the right, it knows when there is a car in front of me, and even has a TV in case there is another one sneaking up from behind. I don't even have to bother to look around anymore and that is a BIG relief. I was afraid at first that I would get bored just sitting there and take a nap, but those engineers thought of that too. Somehow it keeps an eye on me just in case I wander around and beeps at me to wake me up if I run clean off the road. Then, when I do screw up because I was sleeping really hard and I do find myself off the road, these trucks are made to go anywhere with ease and there are a whole world of "mods" for that if it happens to you a whole lot. Even tells me how far I am from my shrimp boat and exactly how long it will take to get there. It's not perfect though. If the drawbridge happens to be up it WILL take longer.

Speaking of mods, there are SO many opportunities to change just about anything you want! Good thing this forum is around as a brain trust so everyone knows what they can do and exactly how to do it. Years of experience at your fingertips, and you can read all about it on your dash mounted tablet while you drive around instead of taking that nap. More productive with your time that way. Boggles the mind. Used to be easy to get good ideas about trucks but I realize now that word of mouth at the feed store only goes so far. Nothing like the numbers of people you can reach on the internet. The things I have been missing for all these years! All I knew about "mods" before forums came along was if you had three on the tree - dancing hula girl on the dashboard. Four on the floor - furry dice. Done.

I am still learning how everything works but slowly discovering new things every day. I was reading on another post about that button by the air conditioner that has the three squiggly lines with steam coming off of them. Looks like three snakes laying side by side. I learned that turns the bacon fryer on and off. Imagine! Nobody got around to saying where you put the bacon though and that is something I really want to use. I did a search too. I have had a package on the back seat for two days now and still haven't found it. If one of you guys could help a guy out before it starts to go bad? I did do a search first so guess it's ok to ask right?

Yesterday I had the biggest epiphany though that really hit home to me. My ahah! moment. I happened to be thinking at the time that if you are going to learn something new it should always contribute to also making you a better person. More thoughtful about other people and things like that. Just as that thought entered my head my wife got into the passenger seat and out of the blue this little light turns on from out of nowhere. Not even a button there so it has to be God. It says "PASS AIR BAG" but only when she is sitting in the seat. Doesn't happen any other time. It really is a smart truck! I always remember to pass her one now in case she gets queasy while driving around. Even started carrying extras in the door panel cup holders. Good place to store them since I can't use all 14 cup holders anyway. Makes me feel so considerate and gives me that warm fuzzy feeling that I am taking such good care of her. It's a win/win that I never would have thought of if that light didn't remind me. See? Better man.

So I wanted to thank all you guys for all the help. Maybe if I get enough time behind the wheel I will learn a few things all by myself that I can pass on to help return the favor.

I am concerned though... since it is Friday I am looking forward to cutting the grass with my tractor this weekend. Will I have a problem driving that low tech since I have unlearned all my bad habits. Will it be the same?? Maybe I should look into mods for the tractor too? I'll be sure to let everyone know on Monday.

Once you go 3rd gen taco you simply can't use a regular mower any longer. You need to get yourself a tow-behind finish mower now.

This thread lost all its potential because of the Colorado thread.
