There has been a LEO thread and I think this Firefighter thread is new? but is there an EMS thread also or is it grouped here with firefighters?

Asking because I am trying to expand my medical knowledge; I have been through an medic in-service/stop the blood loss type class. I am going to try to go thru Emergency Medical Responder this year and then TECC after that.

I’m sure there are a good bit of us in EMS in here. Message an admin and see about starting an EMS thread.

To expand your medical knowledge, college is the start. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Human biology/anatomy/physiology are the venues you seek. Psychology will help as well.

Emergency medical is a series of interventions and actions when there's a disruption in normal anatomy and physiology (sometimes psych).

It's about the medicine, not about the emergency. Too many 19 year old wannabe cops focus on the emergency.

The Fire Service today has changed from the past,
In our County you must be Firefighter and EMT (emergency medical Tech) or Paramedic,.. Some have all three certs.
I am a Fire Investigator, Fire Inspector and Firefighter,.. 3 Certs.

Its the way of the future readiness requirements that have grown to be the norm in qualifications today.
Each State is different, but most all follow NFPA guidelines in departmental organization.

You have one person qualified in 2-3 skills (sometimes more) they will receive the job before a lesser qualified applicant.
    Facts of the career choice.
