no your right those were just for the class. I wasnt sure what was being asked. I didnt test in anything else outside of the class (besides FBAO and CPR before the class), and we had to have at least an 85% in the class before we did the clinicals. 90% required overall grade in the class and at least an 85% on the final.

So who provides you with the license/certification you need to get hired in your state?
I didn't think the NREMT would allow you to test without a state license/certificate - or is this provided by just solely passing your 16 week course?

I was under the impression this was all that was needed. or at least the only test required. Thats what I was told by my instructors

In theory it takes about 5 months. One semester for the class and the tests

I am with Santa Fe County Fire as a Paramedic/FF, and also with Santa Fe Ski Patrol and SF Rafting. (BTW- That was me offering 50% vouchers on the NM forum... hit me up if you come up north! i usually will have one or two... ) I have also worked for Taos County EMS, and in San Miguel (Las Vegas, NM) in the past.

How bout you? I remember AMR got pushed out of Las Cruces by SouthWorst, but I haven't really kept track of things down there... I did my National Registry in Cruces in 2006, and went to P school at ENMU-Roswell.

Now that we've officially :threadjacked: Wheres everyone else work...or want to?:D

Alright, well don't listen to #15 guy cuz EVERYWHERE you go to work now you need to have national in order to get either county or state. I hope you went over your stuff recently. I've taken Basic and Medic and they weren't too bad. As long as you actually paid attention in class and studied you'll be good. Trauma, airway and OB are big with Registry for Basic. Good luck man. Let us know how it goes.

Since when? Last I re-upped my EMT cert was 2007, and it was still do classes and take the practical, pay the money. Of course, that was a re-cert.

LA? Well, pro's and con's. I mean, LAFD is phenomenal, a lot of the surrounding cities are too. But remember most are going ALS now. The EMT crews (ie, AMR, Schaeffer, etc) are little more than gurney pushers. As much as I hated doing IFT's, at least I learned to assess a patient before ALS arrived (and had to call if I wanted them).

Yeah, we can't push drugs, but we can "assist" the patient in self-administering. Which I always thought was a crock of BS. If the dude can't open his nitro, how is he going to give it to himself? Anyway, I digress.

Good luck - it's not all that bad! Just don't get cocky right after you get your cert - you've got to screw up a few dozen times to feel comfortable with the job. Hopefully your partner keeps your screw-ups minimal. :D

Was there any specific parts of trauma that were tested more than others? Im Focusing more on shock, head and neck injuries, and kinetics. (I have 3 hours to study I have to prioritize)

I think you are over preparing but this is a good thing, I had a stack of note cards almost 2ft tall :)

And yes listen to shockittillyareconizeit you need to get your national to get your state but after that first time getting the national you can just keep your state by completing the CE requirement, or just challenge the national test is what I do.

I hated this test, worst test I have ever taken. Took me 3 times to pass. I didnt really try to first 2 though, thought I knew enough, but here Nor Cal has its own standards, and I was tought off of that, so when it came to the test I wasnt ready at all. They make a book at Barnes and Nobles, it helped me pass finally.

Really my final for my class here in Colorado was 50X harder than the national registry.
