Hoping for some help with an issue I'm having with a new to me truck.
Picked up a 2003 3.4 5 speed manual truck with 240k miles. Took it to my trusted retired mechanic and wanted him to run through it a do some deferred maintaince since it was a farm truck for most of its life. Truck drove great as I dropped it off at his place.
We went ahead and did the timing belt/water pump and replaced an 02 sensor. Plugs and spark plug wires.
Now throwing a code P2111 for the throttle body. Tried cleaning it but still didn't work and we went ahead and ordered a new one from Toyota but that didn't fix it.
I finally took it in to the dealership and they checked wiring/connections and they said it was a bad ECM so I went ahead and sent it to have it remanufactured but still throwing the same code and I have a new one from Toyota on order.
I feel like we are on a replace everything until we figure it out course and I was hoping maybe someone would have an idea?

It idles high and doesn't respond correctly when you press the gas pedal. Taking off in 1st gear is difficult without stalling but I can sort of drive it and shift into other gears but taking off from being stopped it difficult to do without stalling it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks

I think I remember learning that a few of the later year 3.4s have electronic throttle bodies instead of the traditional cable system. Not sure if the OP’s 2003 with manual has the electronic or cable system

    This one is electronic
I had the ECM rebuilt first but a new/rebuilt one from Toyota did the trick and its up and running great again.

Welcome to TW! Glad you got the issues straightened out. I was surprised that you were able to buy a new ECM from Toyota. I thought they were discontinued for our 1st Gen trucks. I only ask because I am in the market for the exact same ECM (I’m converting my 2003 over to a 5-speed) and thought I had to rely on finding one used.

No it was a remanufactured but from Toyota
I sent the original one in to have it rebuilt to a company but for some reason that didn't work
