    I wrote down the VIN # from the door plate (or the windshield) and did an internet search for "toyota vin codes" when I needed mine. Takes a few seconds to decode, but it was all there.

    2.7 Liter inline 4 engine is the 2TR-FE
    4.0 Liter V-6 engine is the 1GR-FE
