What speed are you going through 4 low in to smash the limiter. Are you locking it into first gear. Otherwise the truck should shift regardless. 4 low turns off the nannies for those that keep posting to turn off

4lo defaults to TRAC OFF and VSC OFF for the Pro and OR trims only.
All other trims, TRAC ON is the default for 4lo

OP profile indicates he has OR, so yes he should be nanny free in 4lo.

I'm thinking engine speed vs vehicle speed vs throttle position is causing a fail-safe condition. Fail-safe is deactivated when it detects a pass condition...in your case the throttle angle is reduced.

Stop going HAM and try MTS.

The truck is protecting its self from throwing a rod. Its why there is a rev limiter for those that can’t.....drive i guess for lack of a softer term. I would love to see a video of these attempts myself.

This circumstance has been documented before. It has nothing to do with traction control as there is no throttle intervention in 4-low. The ECU bypasses throttle input if you hit the rev limiter too hard for too long. It's more pronounced in 4-low since the engine can rev so fast compared to how quickly the transmission can shift. Either lift the throttle a bit to give the transmission more time, or use 4-high.

So you're in 4lo, you break traction, you matt it, bounce it off the rev-limiter until it's had enough and shuts you down.
    OK, you can't fix that...

KM3 is a fine tire but shit in snow and ice unless you air down a ton. Just not good compound or tread pattern for those conditions.

In your situation I'd either air down significantly or chain up.

If you watch around the 7 min mark you’ll see it happen, in sand vs snow

The only real issue with this video was that they never figured out how to disable TC

Yeah, for sure. My last truck had no TC and, honestly, if it weren't for the comments on that video, I wouldn't have thought of it either.

    FEW

there are several types o rev limiters

the best is the type that will hold max rpm & rev no further

    U dont have that type

Ur best move is to NOT bump the rev limiter ..........

Are you sure this isn't Traction Control kicking in? Try disabling it and see what happens

Working as designed. Toyota's rev limiter is very intrusive - it doesn't just keep you from grenading the engine, it also aggressively cuts throttle for several seconds. Very unlike a sports car where you can repeatedly bounce off the limiter over and over.
