Hi, is any one have a noise or knocking in the engine, I have the 2018 Toyota Tacoma SR5 with 2542 miles. I took my truck to the dealer because of the knocking on the passenger side in the engine compartment, and I was told by the maintenances manager that it is coming from the oil pump and that is normal........any suggestions ..................Please

These engines does have a "clicking" sound at idle. I believe this is the self cleaning system to the engine and perfectly normal. I am sure someone with A LOT more knowledge will chime in about this.

Everything is normal until the warranty is up, then we're screwed.

You might be hearing the cleaning cycle. I've heard it happen at idle and it goes away after a bit. Take a video of the sound so we can see what you're talking about. I'll record a video of my truck doing it if it matches what I hear.

Welcome to TW. You might try a quick search. I just did, and found more than 10 pages of posts about "Engine Knocking".

Any chance you could upload a video or audio clip so we can tell you if it sounds like ours?

One mans "knock" is another mans "what?"

I dont think "anything" is correct.

Have you tried higher octane fuel to see if it changes anything?

It may just be the cleaning cycle as others have said.

I think you're going to need a better description or possibly video to get actual useful answers.

My 01 4.7 tundra sounded like a diesel until warmup since it was new. 292k miles later it still sounded the same. Toyota claimed it normal for an engine with forged pistons, and made up of dissimilar metals.

I whole heartedly disagree..."anything" is 100% ridiculous and shouldn't even be considered!

    "Anything" is the obvious answer!

Some people! You can lead a horse to water...
