Im having this issue with my 07. For some reason, everytime i do an oil change i get this engine lag for a couple hundred miles. I have the regular V6 4.0 with a K&N and cat back exaust but i dont think its a sensor issue. Iv really never experienced a break in period for oil in a gas engine. I hit the gas and the engine kind of boggs down for a couple seconds then it comes out of it and drives normal. And im useing like always castrol syntec and fram filter. Any one have any ideas?

    Clean the maf sensor?
May be waaAy off here, but I figure its cheap and easy and u can at least start process of elimination?

    Also clean the throttle body.

I know u say its when u do an oil change and it clears up...... Do u reoil the air filter every time also?

Kinda at a loss, but those things I suggested about cleaning the maf sensor and throttle body are good maintenance anyhow.

As for the filter..... If ur oiling it too much it may have a negative effect.

I'm sure someone else will come in with better ideas, for now consider this a free bump.

I have no idea what that is...

But try disconnecting the negative terminal on your battery for about 15 minutes or so, and then reconnecting it. That allows your ECU to reboot fresh and to relearn your A/F operating parameters. See if that changes anything.

Ya, but the oil change would not affect that.

I too am assuming that he is cleaning and over-oiling the air filter.

The only thing i do with my air filter is wash it. And i havnt done that in about a month. So that has nothing to do with anything.

Do u hose down the engine for any reason?

Coilpack having a crack could let small amounts of water in and act up till the engine is warm a enoughong enough to evaporate?

The only time did what ur describing is when it rained hard and I drove hard with the urd intake on and no hydroshield or hydrophobic sock..... Tiny amount of water droplets made it past the filter and would hit the maf sensor and cause the truck to stumble.

The truck only does it when u change the oil tho right?
    Never at any other time?

No i have never hosed the engine compartment down. And the air filter has a metal guard that it sits in. And yes only when i change the oil this happens. And for some reason it only lasts for the first few hundred miles. Its very strange. It almost gives the impression that the fuel pump is dying. Because when i hit the gas it takes a couple seconds for it to register.

A friend and I installed a walbro fuel pump and kit from URD a few weeks ago. When the old has was drained out it didn't loom too bad at 70k, but it was def dirty....
Oddly tho, the sock filter attached to the OEM fuel pump had METAL shavings in it and 1 chunk was pretty big.

I supposed u could look at a fuel pump kit with an external fuel filter from dezod or urd.

At the very least, u will be able to change the filter out easily, and if u ever get the supercharger, this will aid in fuel delivery

Do u have the front end on jacks when u change the oil?

I just woke up so not thinking the clearest..... Would any tank sediment shlosh and effect the flow characteristics once the truck was dropped and started?

Maybe it is the fuel pump..... I'd expect it to be consistent and even after the oil change tho....
Specially acting up during stops and takeoffs and grades unless hard on the gas.

Would u mind kinda retracing ur steps for us?

What exactly do u include in the oil change?

Just trying to get more info for others to help, not trying to blame u or anything.... The more info the better.

    Greg;)

Hey just an after thought, salt...
Have you ever sprayed any cleaners on or into your throttle body? Maybe the butterfly is gummed up and is opening too slowly.

So my oil change basically consits of just that. Drain it (sitting on a 4point lift), replace plug, take off filter, clean sealing surfaces with just a dry lint free rag, wet filter gasket with a dab of clean oil, replace filter, replace oil, let sit for 5 min or so and start up. I clean the air filter as needed seperately and yes i let it dry completely before reinstalling.

Just a wild thought, but would the little drain on the filter housing being clogged have any thing to do with this? I know the crankcase is vented to the intake so i dont know why it would matter.

Or.... do you think the oil filter is air bound since its upside down and it just has to run its course to get the airpockets out?
