yeah big difference. If its a engine light, need the code. If its maintenance light its easy to reset. I believe its the same for tacomas as it was for the 4 runner. but basically hold the odometer but turn the ignition key to on hold till the light goes off(about ten seconds), continue holding the odometer button and turn to off. Start vehicle as normal and the light should be off.

It is not ALWAYS this, but 9/10 times CEL/TRAC is the gas cap being loose.

I understand that if the light is on continuously it's an emission error, gas cap, sensor or wire/ground issue.
If the engine light is blinking then you stop the truck because there is something seriously wrong. (oil pressure, failed ignition control, excessive knock sensor )

Maintenance light, you a do a dance with your trip button and key for a while.

I found it on another thread, Was this you?

"Turn the ignition “off” Press and hold the Trip Odometer Reset button, and turn the ignition switch to the “On” position. Continue to hold down the Trip Odometer Reset button until “000000” MILES appears on the display and the maintenance light turns off."

I called my Toyota service center. Using my service record I found the TECT. that work on my truck. He said disconnect the battery for 10 min. reconnect the battery. The Check Engine also the traction control is out. Lesson don't drive with your hand on the shift lever. Thank You TW people.
