I have a 2013 with 71000 and it's had a ticking noise at idle since brand new and I know there is a recall for valve springs breaking and I feel like my truck could be nifty from new springs but apparently it isn't in the recall. Does anyone else have a ticking noise?

Not really. Are you having a problem or just curious after 71,000 miles. I would think you wouldn't even notice it after that many miles.

All injectors make noise the Taco 4L has 6 the Taco also has 24 valves guess what makes more noise.

Pennzoil Platinum synthetic really quieted down my engine especially at startup. I really can't hear the tick anymore. YMMV.

I especially love the intermittent ticking that sounds like the driver's side exhaust manifold is leaking. But it isn't of course. Some days it does it, others it doesn't. Both my 4.0 Tacomas did the same thing. And both ticked at idle too. It's a truck. Wonder how noisy the new 3.5 is?

Mine does the same thing on cold mornings at random. Has done it since almost new. Read it is the design of the exhaust manifolds. Not sure if I buy it. Really cant figure it out myself.

On both of the one's I have owned multiple times when they were making the noise I would pull over, open the hood and listen with a mechanic's stethoscope. Nothing. Drive away tick,tick,tick..... Finally just said screw it.

I'm more concearned about a wining sound coming from the front end sounds like a idle pulley bearing going out or something. It also comes and goes. 110,000 miles maybe it's time to replace a belt?

Don't fret. It takes a licking but keeps on ticking.

If you haven't changed the belt and the pulleys/tensioner yet I would put it on your short list. My tensioner went (didn't make any noise either) at about 125k and threw the belt. Fortunately I was close to home and coasted most of the way. Changing the tensioner assembly sucks but the rest of the job is pretty easy.

I'll have to look into this. I bet I can find a how to somewhere on this site. Any idea total cost? Thanks!

I have this tick, and it matches everything you guys have described here. Mine seems to get louder if I go up a hill that is not quite steep enough for the transmission to downshift. Does that match the infamous taco tick? It sounds just like it's coming from the driver side exhaust manifold.

That sounds like an ignition ping. Use a higher octane gasoline.
