Engine sounds like a banshee with open throttle. Possible bad pulley?

Whenever I open up the throttle, there is a high pitched squealing sound coming from the engine compartment. My best guess is a bad pulley or belt. It sounds like it could be coming from inside the engine block itself, but I'm not sure. I've lubed up all the pulleys I can reach to try and see if I could make the sound go away to figure out which one is bad, but that didn't do anything. The sound is also there at idle on a cold start, but goes away when the engine warms up a bit until I open the throttle. Sometimes it will go away at highway speeds, but not for long.

not inside. could be anything in front though incl. alternator.

edit: it really does sound like the alt. to me. Take off belt (s) and spin things by hand. Everything should be smooth like a skateboard wheel. Nothing should be rough feeling. If nothing sticks out have an alt. shop or the auto. parts store spin up the alternator. You can also take fan off and run engine to cut out noise/eliminate/give more room and a margin of safety to look in there closer.

I am curious just how did you lube up the sealed bearings in the pulleys??

I had that noise once (similar anyway) it was the idler pulley.
