Don't know much about engine engineering but I need some clarifications about them.
    - Taco has a gas engine of 3.5L with 278HP
    - Ford has a gas engine of 3.5L with 470HP
Since both engines run on gas and have the same bore displacement, why difference between them in HP? Is it because of the Taco's simulated Atkinson cycle BS and power reduction to save emissions? A 3.5L is a 3.5L and pump gas is gas.
Looking for constructive and educational responses.

That Ford is likely running a twin turbo.

The Turbo era has begun, Toyota needs to catch up.

One downside about turbos is that they can be expensive to service in the future.

Ford has two Turbo's on the 3.5 V6 that you are quoting the numbers from.

BTW, the "simulated Atkinson cycle" is turned off as soon as you floor it, so that wouldn't / shouldn't reduce HP.

How would you know what bore displacement means yet have no idea that a 3.5 v6 that makes 470hp isn't FI lol.

You don't service them, you replace them. It's about 2K from the dealer. If you change the oil consistently under the shortest recommended interval you shouldn't have any problems until well over 200K. I have a buddy with a 2012 Ecoboost with 400K on it with the original turbos. Refuses to get rid of it until it dies, that truck is a freak of nature lol.

And the 3.5L in the Ford GT is 647 HP so Toyota is lagging behind big time.

Oh and to be fair to Toyota the 2GR couldn't handle that amount of boost in its current form. The 3.5L Ford Ecoboost comes with forged internals and a redesigned block to handle the power. The 2GR does not.

The crazy engine is the 2.7 L Ecoboost. It handles close to 30 PSI of boost and uses a compacted graphite block stock . They don't seem to fail early either if taken care of properly. Most of the trucks at work are 2.7 L Ecoboosts. None have failed within their 3 year/150K leases.

I hope you're not a troll. Also, engine displacement is not based purely on the bore, but stroke as well so without checking the specs, you do not know if the bore is the same.
