I was curious. Does the Tacomas that are sold in Hawaii by Servco have the Entune loaded in the HU and are you able to register online so you can use the iphone app? Only reason I am asking is that when doing research before purchasing my wifes 2015 Lexus NX, it said that the Entune and App suite came standard on all trim levels of the NX models, but when we picked up the vehicle, it didnt have the entune loaded on the HU and it also didnt have the SOS button, which is in all other NX's. I was told that Servco is a distributor and since the satellites dont reach Hawaii, they dont include it in their vehicles they sell here and I couldnt register on the Lexus Owners website because my VIN said it wasnt a valid Lexus vehicle....So didnt know if it applied to all Toyota/Lexus vehicles or only the ones built in Japan and shipped to Servco. Do you fellow Hawaii owners know? I really wanted to be able to remote start and check the status of my wifes car through the app, but was disappointed when I found out its not available.
    Thanks!

Thanks! That is just what I was looking for. I guess its the same problem for all Hawaii sold Toyotas.

I would be interested to know if someone had shipped their Toyota or Lexus vehicle from the mainland, would the Entune in their vehicle work, or is it truly satellite dependent. Oh well. I guess us Hawaiians are SOL.

You're welcome, I remembered a few members from the island complaining/asking about this before.

That really sucks. And like others, I also feel that if we are paying for the features, we should at least have it loaded on the HU. At least the NAV still works, even though i think I used the NAV in my wifes car twice in the 2.5 years we owned it...LOL

I don't know the answer to your question OP. But I wanted to inquire of you, since you mention the satellites non effectiveness in HI. Was dealing with Sirius/xm cust service this past week...I live in southern Ontario, CA (think Detroit in Non metric) no need for the story but they had mentioned HI and Alaska are Sirius dark zones...I was skeptical.

So no satellite in HI eh?

Yup, no sat radio available in Hawaii. I heard a few years back that they were going to test some type of land based system that would work with Sirius, but I guess wasnt cost effective or something. And this was before the XM/Sirius merger so they may have axed the idea.

I just checked and they have something called Streaming SiriusXM in Alaska and Hawaii, but I think you will still need internet service to use that service, so no satellite still.

i asked my sales manager at maui toyota he said trucks are built and when hawaii orders them they are pulled out of the mass of trucks built and shipped. he said there is no special head units for hawaii trucks. i was inquiring regarding Xm in case i ever shipped the truck to the mainland could i get it. on maui they come straight from the mainland to maui, do not pass thru servco in HNL, and no one re programs anything, at least that is what i was told.

This is very interesting. We are planning on moving to Hawaii early next year. I specifically wanted a Tacoma so when we move to the big island well just ship it over. I just don't see a BMW being practical in Hawaii.

I believe all Toyotas in Hawaii go through Servco. The only Toyota dealerships that are not owned by Servco in the islands are Big Island Toyota which Is owned by the Deluz group and Maui Toyota, but all their cars go through Servco also since they are the distributor for Hawaii and not Toyota USA. Thats why its hard to negotiate when buying a Toyota here. You either pay what they sell it for, or buy a Nissan. No driving a 100 miles to find another dealer. However, I did have a friend buy a Camry from Big Island Toyota and took delivery on Oahu before it was shipped to the Big Island and got a little better price, but dont know if they still allow that. I could be wrong.....

they are processed (ordered) thru servco but are shipped direct from the mainland to maui toyota, according to the sales manager. per the sales manager the trucks that come to hawaii are picked from inventory at the manufacturing site or holding yard and shipped. no special hawaii re programing like the head unit or a different head unit changed out is done. this is what i was told anyway..
