Nope, no build thread yet. Just this pic from the day I picked it up. So far I’ve removed the running boards and replaced the dreaded heater tee’s.

Looks good! I am ordering my heater tees today. Pretty sure they were done but rather spend $20 now than be wrong and fix a head gasket later. Here's my build: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/1999-lx470-fishing-brews-and-dogs.551097/

We need a TW LC meet up now!

Yep, $20 is cheap insurance. I’ll definitely be looking thru your build as well, thanks for the link!

Gave the grill a new paint job last night. The faded black and gold emblem just wasn't cutting it anymore.

I know the front bumper needs some attention, that will come soon enough.

Some parts arrived at my door yesterday!:D New shocks, springs, torsen bars, and diff drop.

    IMG_20180615_163737.jpg

And then the battery died. I'm not sure if it's an issue with the alternator, or battery or what. I was able to use my trickle charger to get going again, but not really sure where the real issue is. My guess is the alternator. It's sounding different the last couple weeks almost like the engine is working harder. It can't play the radio without wearing down the battery significantly when the car is off....any suggestions?

    Awesome!

If you can bring it down to Advance Auto or Autozone and they will test it for you and let you know what the problem is. Let me know if you need anything

That's a good idea! I know they can test the battery, is there a way to test the alternator?

5 minute fog light fix to clean the hazy yellowing that was going on. Used Meguires Ultimate Compound, and a drill mounted foam buffing pad. Worked way better than expected, they look brand new again!

Lift installed, but i need to make some adjustments to the Torsion bars up front, current drives like crap and sort of feels like this...needs to come down about .5-3/4 of an inch and should be alright, but then have to realign again.

Looks higher in front than it really is, front tire is sitting in a little rut.

Just had my alternator replaced (2000 TLC) Wednesday.
I had battery drain when sitting for 2-3 weeks. Replaced battery, but then I drove 100 miles and battery (dash idiot light) light came on 100 miles from home. First time light ever came on. Stopped at O'Reilly and they hooked me up to diagnoser and found voltage regulator kaput. I charged the battery and made it back home with no alternator. 85 mph and no lights radio fan etc
ANYWAY.... the tech that put alternator was looking for my drain source and found issue with radio/heater circuit. He said it self corrected when he popped of frontpiece of dash at radio to check it out. He could not dupe the problem, so we'll see.
SO.... Radio may be good start point. FWIW I do not have screen radio, just lowly cassette/cd.
Nice inspiring thread. Working up my Tacoma now but will keep an eye here. Good luck!

I think my battery drain was due to my kids leaving the rear interior light on. But there were some other things going on that made me think the alternator was near it's end, the windows had slowed down, and the engine was louder than usual. All is back to normal now.

Lowered the Torsion bars about 3/4 of an inch today and brought it for an alignment. Made a world of difference, the ride is fantastic now! Slightly stiffer than when it was stock but not by much. So happy with the results, but not so much after looking at my bank account after getting all the work done lately. Hopefully I can get some good miles on her before something else rears its head.
