"Ethanol"

Hello Everybody,

Please let me hear what everybody thinks about Ethanol. I am sure there is going to be a lot of negative feedback on this thread.

Nothing wrong with it for our trucks. Not gonna worry about it.

 

I'm sure the owner before me put ethanol in my Tacoma before me, but I have strictly been 100% gas from 117-123k. Friends tell me it may cause cat problems,but time will tell.

 

We're growing so much inedible (for human consumption) corn in this country that we are literally burning it in vehicles.

The amount of water and energy it takes to grow corn, transport it, manufacture ethanol and transport just so we can get lower mpgs while claiming "lower emissions" is the biggest joke.

 

Corn is a strange vegetable. I love corn on the cob grilled on my barbeque, but when I go to the bathroom the next day, it is in the toilet bowl intact. This tells me that it is providing almost no nutritional value for the human being.

 

But it sure tastes good and makes a dirt cheap sweetener!

 

The other strange thing about Ethanol is why haven't automobile manufacturers spent research dollars and energy on developing combustion engines that can completely run on Ethanol. I mean they spent energy and money developing engines that can run on biodiesel. Biodiesel is even retro-interactive. Old diesel engines can run on forms of biodiesel.

 

In general, or are you referring to some specific application/use?

 

I mean in terms of running it in overhead combustion engines.

If you are into horsepower ethanol is the shit. If you have forced induction you can take advantage of the physical properties of ethanol fuel and make way more power with tuning for it then you wver could wit gasoline. You do get crappy ful economy from this of course.

 

I think we are stuck with it.

 

What about Side-By-Side combustion engines?

 

Like previously stated, it's insane to grow one of the most energy intense crops in order to make "green" fuel

 

Ethanol sucks. I'm happy to pay $2.80 (today) for ethanol free 93.
