    The answer is: duh.
The real question is: is it a problem?

So after installing a Magnuson SC on my 3.4L, along with the 7th injector setup, I sent in an oil sample to Blackstone Labs after my next oil change. No big issues, iron and aluminum were a little high, they said it was probably wear-in from the supercharger.

Fast forward another 7500 miles, I sent in another sample just to see where it's at. The results come back, and both iron and aluminum content are even higher, and well above universal averages.

Has anyone performed an oil analysis before/after installing a supercharger and noticed a similar trend? I am going to shorten my oil change interval and check again, and try to get additional feedback from Blackstone on their interpretation of the results.

I am running the stock pulley on the SC, truck runs great, I don't drive it like a maniac (not all the time, at least). Mobil1 5W-30 and Toyota filter every 7500 miles, doesn't use a drop.

    Thoughts?

Higher loads from the F/I. Use a 40 weight. More protection.

I agree, the SC is most likely the source of the additional wear. Do you use a higher viscosity oil in your F/I engines? I haven't heard of that being a common solution, although it seems to make sense.

What is your typical oil change interval? Do you hear less valve noise, etc.? I may have to give the heavier weight oil a shot.

Yes I do. The increased load creates increased pressures and heat. That greater viscosity is needed to protect against that. With the age of your engine, it is also beneficial to up the weight. Need that extra cushion.

Recently came across an anti friction modifier. Pretty damn impressive. Motorkote. Here it is in action. Going to use it in mine.

Thread Bump. @drr You ever switch over to a heavier weight oil and then send in a report?

All of my supercharged oil reports have been within universal averages. But I am curious about maybe less valve noise and more protection.

I did switch to Rotella 5w-40, I have yet to send it in to Blackstone though. I’ll have to do that at my next change. The truck is still running great, no oil consumption, everything is tip top. So I’m less concerned about it.
