I'm trying to find a single cat-back exhaust system for my 2003 sr5 tacoma and i found borla makes a good one but magnaflow does too. Anyone know which one i should buy? i want it to sound low and not high pitched.

Get a Gibson single outlet cat-back. Got one on my 04 and love the deep roar of this thing. Summit Racing has em.

    2.7L 3RZ,K&N filter, 4" deck plate mod,flowmaster 40 series,3" body lift,3" suspension lift,35's. I also have another tacoma a 97 with a 350 small block in it on a 1972 blazer frame...
I have a thrush welded (not glass pack or turbo)muffler with single 2.5" inlet and dual 2.25" outlet... stuck it up to the open exhaust (old muffler hacked off) sounded sweet put the stock back on till i get the inspection done...then body lift...then have the muffler shop put pipes out under the bumper (once lifted with body)

Magnaflow cat and cat-back exhaust, AFE Stage 2 cold-air intake system, 2.5" lift via Skyjacker leaf packs, Bilstein 5100s.
I just put a Magnaflow cat-back system on my 2.7L pickup to replace a glass-pack that was too loud for me. I like the sound of the magnaflow and the pickup seems to run better with it. I have been told that the engine is engineered to run better with a specific amount of back pressure, so maybe that's it. Anyway, I switched because the glasspack made my ears ring at highway speeds after a short distance. The Magnaflow seems to quiet down at about 2500-3000 rpm. Sounds nice in the lower rpms.

Handy hint: The magnaflow system comes with the muffler, pipes, clamps, and rear hanger. It does not come with the gaskets for the connection to the cat, nor for the oxygen sensor. You will have to get those from Toyota or a muffler shop. Nor does it come with the necessary bolts and nuts. You will need two 7/16X1 1/2 bolts (stainless if you can find them), nuts, cut washers, lock washers, and two nuts for the oxy sensor (I went with the self-locking nuts from Toyota). Always replace exhaust system bolts and nuts. Don't be tempted to reuse the old ones.

    TacoZilla,

there is a meet (fest if you will) in the works for the spring in North Carolina. I'm planning on heading down from Jersey, TJOpilot (from PA will be caravaning with me), we're supposed to pick up Navysob outside of DC, it'd be no problem to pick you up around there too. It'd be pretty cool, 4 very different Taco's all running down 95 together.

Anyone have Borla? Can't decide on which to get. Hear varying opinions on magna/flowmaster, but not borla. Hear that it's made extremely well with the 1,000,000 mile warranty, but not much else. Any feed back. You guys have some nice trucks. HOW'S THE MPG?

The only thing I know about Borla is that it was more expensive than the Magnaflow. The Mag is stainless steel from the cat to the tail piece. I don't know how much more durable you can get than that, besides, the warranties are almost always only good for the original buyer, so as far as I'm concerned, a 5 year warranty is about as good as a million mile warranty. Come to think about it, I don't even know what the Magnaflow warranty is. I guess I better look and get it filed in my records.

You should buy 4U2NV's system. You can't beat $200, even without a warranty!

thx for the advice man. Appreciate it. Just bought a K&N air intake. Wasn't sure whether to go with AFE or K&N but figured I couldn't go wrong with it. They seem to be very similar in price and performance ratings. As far as that magnaflow, I saw that posting, but it's only for the muffler I believe. BORLA gets good reviews all around and haven't heard much about it as much as I have the magnaflow. Maybe b/c it's a lower price point and so on avg more people purchase that unit over the Borla. Just don't want to be setting off car alarms left adn right if you know what I mean but something that sounds real nice./not too noisy in the cabin.

I bought the complete magnaflow "cat-back" system off ebay for the same price as a muffler. Stainless steel pipe and muffler. Thats important living in Iowa.

    Very nice sound.
