I guess I remembered the difficulty in length vs backing up wrong. :anonymous:

Before any small turn in the wheel would turn the trailer externally sharp in about 2 seconds. Forgot to mention, that's my shop at my job, wish it was my home garage though.

They're both decent. I ran the Lock-n-roll for a few years on my trailer. Have had a Max-Coupler for the past 3 years and like it MUCH better.

On the topic of trailers and power management.... Anyone use this as a cheaper less fancy alternative to SPod or switch pro?

I have not personally but it looks like it would be an interesting application in the center console in the truck at least

Here is one of the last trailers I made. It has an 8 lug 6000 pound axle to match my dodge dually. The taco tows it just fine, stops realy reallly good.

Wow. This looks to be an elegant solution for a simple trailer. This is probably what I will end up trying to emulate when I have the time to do my own. What a great trailer!

all just depends on the coin you want to spend. I picked up my Ruger trailer for about $5K. I couldn't afford more but needed something to help haul gear for family camping. The trailer does run the same lug and tire size, which was also a HUGE selling point. The only slight downside I've had is that it can a bit bouncy with just leaf spring suspension(strut mod addition could be its future) and this model doesn't have the tailgate. It certainly makes life easy with the kayaks though(see avatar). I use an ice hut for sleeping since I can get our 3 cots in it. I may trade up once the wife's fibromyalgia gets to bad for the cot setup or leave her at home and go RTT :p.

Only pic I have but I've downsized. Had an AT trailer but never seemed to use the amenities. Used it mostly for storage. I tent camp with an OZ tent as a RTT is impossible to get my 110lb bud in out of weather. So this trailer is made by a Guy in Amarillo. BuyTrekmate.com He is a great guy and customized for me. I won't state cost except it was way below 6K. If all you need is a trailer for gear and not a lot more this is GREAT. The front part is removable. It houses my 63 qrt refrigerator and the Battery electrical system. Has solar recharge and from towing. It's removable as I also camp in my Superduty with and FWC popup. The camper is compact and just need space for gear (my bud) gets the entire back seat ;) With front refrige system removed I haul a generator and extra fuel. There are a lot of options out there for you. I took a bit of a beating downsizing but I'm VERY HAPPY now. Sorry this is only pic I have right now. Some good features: Timbren Axles, Lock n Roll hitch and both compartments water and dust tight. Electrical has solar, vehicle charging but can run Refrige off shore power or generator too20171209_130749.jpg

I’m currently looking at buying a trailer too. Same reasons as those posted by many. Having a hard time determining the capabilities of some models and comparing similar models made by different companies. I’m planning on going to look at a few more in person before deciding. Here’s an article I found helpful early in my search. I’m leaning towards the turtleback, but the patriot and two others are of interest as well. I wish I could go to Expo West!! I’m sure they will all be there. http://www.theadventureportal.com/off-road-trailer-buyers-guide-2015-2016/

Definitely going to Expo East in 2018. I’m going to my sons law school graduation instead of Expo West. I’ll have some time before East so I may be able to figure something out before then. I’m going to look at Steve Harrell’s DT 58 sometime in March.

Blue Ridge Expedition Trailers near Savanah GA. These are 1450 lbs dry and 7 feet wide.

That’s cool. We were looking at the cricket. Are you happy with the moth? Is there room inside to store and use a portable potty and could you make some coffee or do you have to do everything outside under the awning?

We do everything under the awning but that's just us. You have to look at the TM as pretty much a hard sided tent. A pop up shelter for a porta pottie and shower is on the list we've only been to camp grounds so far so they have facillities. Hopefully the plan will come together so we can get out and explore
