I’ve always thought your set up was impressive in fact it was a large part of the inspiration to start all this. Of course we do it to fit our needs but the inspiration is still there

The FlipPac is for sale because I’m changing the Tacoma up quite a bit but the trailer is staying. The trailer is amazingly overbuilt and they used some brilliant methods to bring it all together. If people are interested I’ll take a heap of pictures to share when we open it up to get it ready for the next trip.

Sure that would be great! We just got a very basic starter and I’ve been modding the crap out of it ever since. It allowed us to start camping with it rt away and I’m makeing the needed changes as wr go

Here is my recent build. Started with a $150 boat trailer. Have family in the auto industry so I got hooked up with all the tools and materials I needed. 16 hour of fab work and here’s what I came up with. Timbren Independnt suspension 3500lbHD with 2” lift spindles. 6x5.5 hubs. Materials about $1500 not counting the wheels and tires I already had.

I am curious about the parabolic "type" sun shade that is shown in the bottom most photo.

Do you have any info on that item?

I would love to price that out and see how I could adapt it to our needs. It looks like it would fair much better in strong winds that the more traditional flat pull out awnings or "easy ups".

    Curiously yours,

    Jim

It came as a factory accessory that zips onto the side of the tent body. There is heavy duty 2” hook and loop to mate with a complete midgie mesh panel that can hang from the inside near the outer edges. When set up correctly with the fabric taught rain will run down the narrow legs to help keep water from pooling.

To learn more search for the following:

    “Kimberley Kamper Bedouin awning”

It is one of our favorite accessories as it creates a very comfortable shaded space that covers the mini kitchen all the way to the main tent entrance. If they still offer it you can get the midgie panel with a stove jack for the accessory wood stove that they offer as well.

    Hi again,

Well there is nothing that I can find that provides much info; even the corporate web site is a bit sparse. It seems that the company folded some years ago and in early 2019 a third attempt was made to bring it back to life and the same folks are in charge at this time. There is nothing specific on their web site about the USA. I did find an article stating that they wanted to make the awning available as a separate purchase but there is nothing on their web site about that being possible. Sigh.

    Thanks for the info.

    Regards,

    Jim

If there’s anything I can do to help answer questions don’t hesitate. If there was a stand alone version I’d be on it straight away. As of now I’m using a stand alone Snow Peak awning to make a base camp shelter that works great.

Cool bike placement. What's your tongue weight with it so close to hitch?

I haven't weighed it, but this is the tool I used to find my axle measurement from the tongue. If my math is right it should be around 270lbs. Bike is only around 220lbs so it can't me much more than that. I can hand move the trailer pretty easily around on the ground.
