I bought cheap ones on Amazon. Been on a little over a year and working just fine. Like the look much better than the bright chrome.

I've purchased both. One OEM package was from Ebay, (a repair shop needed to order the full set, only used one emblem, then sold the rest), the other was a "ToyoBB" brand to cover the missing emblem (also from Ebay). In comparing the two, there are small differences, but imperceptible unless side by side. IMO, the main issue is whether the adhesive is different, which I cannot tell.
Side note, there are dozens of "OEM" emblems on Ebay and elsewhere that are not OEM. If you want OEM, ask them if the box says, "Toyota".

Bought mine here, eBay fit perfect. Personally I find the price of the OEM just ridiculous for what they are.

The main difference I have seen while shopping is some knock offs will fade faster than others. Just look at reviews for the brand you are looking for. It is very hard to justify the insanely overpriced OEM ones for so simple an item.

Got to be careful on the Amazon cheaper ones like I hot. I put one on and you can see the chrome on the top just slightly. Off they came and I picked up a set from the dealer. Much better quality on the OEM in my opinion. I returned the Amazon junk ones, however there may be a better set, I may have gotten the cheap ones but yes there is a difference.

If they fade or need to be removed will it mess up the chrome when they come off?

Most go on with 3M tape so you can use a heat gun to loosen that when taking off a faded cover. Only caveat is that the OEM chrome emblem went on with 3M tape also, so you'll want to be careful that you don't overheat the cover and original emblem. Doing so means you run the risk of both coming off together

Counterfeit Toyota parts do exist. Cruise control stalk stopped working on my 2008 so I bought a new stalk on eBay. The baggie it came in had the nice looking Toyota sticker stating part number and all that but upon comparing the 2 stalks, it did feel a bit cheap. Knockoff works well though.
