Sorry to hear of the deer hit. I've hit 5 deer in the area I live and my wife has hit 6 in the last 2 years. Lots of deer in the area.

I assumed 2 deductibles worth of cash into my ARB. NO MORE DEER FEAR!

How heavy is that bumper? I guess I would have to beef up my front end since I am stock? What say you? I'd like something like yours.

Hitting a deer is not fun. Good luck to the OP.

    ARB's are approx 160 lbs

A lightweight yet durable solution is the RelentlessFab aluminum plate bumper which weighs 55 lbs

I would say you could run that on stock suspension with little or no sag , or get billies and set to .85

I had the same thing happen to me about 3 months after I bought my truck. My damage was almost identical and the situation was the same, I was able to slow down enough to minimize impact and caught his butt as he was running off the road.

    My damage was $3700

New bumper cover, new brackets, new grill, two new headlights (tabs broke), a new AC line (they milked the insurance on this one, could have been bent back easily), New fender flare (another Ins milker, 2 plastic clips were broken and they replaced the whole thing ) I was able to get a color matched grill out of the deal. They can actually order them prepainted from Toyota.

    dayummm....

pennsylvania is a heck of lot more expensive for similar repairs. I'd say it's a good thing insurance picks up the delta except it's all reflected in my premium... even if I'm a good boy and don't let parking lot light poles tap my front end.

Oz is on the money with the bumper weight, plus another 50 or so for the winch. I have the adjustable ToyTec coilovers and I did add about a half inch or so to level the front. There is a stock Off-Road in the area with the ARB, no sag as far as I can tell, but he has a Leer cap too. My truck still handles great, not too stiff or bouncy at speed.

I went with the ARB mostly because it was my least expensive option and their reputation. I've seen ARBs that have taken a deer hit, even at speed, with NO damages. I would have LOVED to buy a Relentless aluminum one, but a bit out of my price range.

It's a security thing with me and I'm happy with my choice!:D

There is one plate bumper I've seen here that looks really nice as a stock-swap replacement, and wouldn't be out of place on your truck. I don't remember who makes it, but they also make a high-clearance version that requires you to cut the rear quarter panels up to a high point...

I hear ya brother. I haven't hit deer, but people kept backing into my front bumper, so I said fuck it and went the same route. Now if anything happens I can touch it up with a $10 can of Tremclad black.

That's 160lbs for everything though. Winch plate, mounting brackets, everything. The bumper itself is only about 100-110lbs. I put it on the mounting bracket myself.

A friend of my wife's has hit 2 horses, (separate incidents), neither came through the windshield, but only by luck. I've also been on a mva where one car hit the deer and it went through the interior of an oncoming station wagon. Both the deer and the driver were in the back seat, neither survived.

I believe in getting off the brakes before impact so the front of the vehicle rises to ride height. Panic braking drops the front end pretty low. You end up scooping the deer through your grill instead of letting the "bumper", if you can call the stockers a bumper, take the hit.

Anyhow, my guess is the the ARB will force the deer down and then roll on over.:notsure: I still don't want to hit one, but I feel much better at speed in the twistys at night!:D
