    Hey folks,

I have an idea or two of something I would like to have made (either aluminum or steel, not sure) ... how do you go about finding a fabricator? It's a broad question, I know, but I'm genuinely curious as I image there is a lot of back-and-forth, etc in order to get something from prototype to final process.

I've spoken with @Speed Freek before and definitely have him in mind. Other two I haven't heard of before. For a bit of a re-clarification, I was wondering about the more 'industry' route of perhaps making a sketch-up / CAD design -> final (sellable) product.

Are you looking for someone to design a part with you and create a jig to sell them? Or someone to make a one off part for you?

We made the bed rack ourselves, never had fab work down here.

Right now its an idea for my particular situation, but I could see it being potentially useful to others that have similar setups. So in a perfect world, jig + sell. I should probably dig deeper into the internet to see if something similar already exists and if I am wasting my brainwaves on this... :D

A quick-release bracket for mounting objects like tools, canisters, etc.

If you can't find someone to make them, you could use a use a fire extinguisher quick release. It'd at least work for a canister.

Yeah, I thought about that. Don't know if would work exactly, but it might be a start.

LS1-T56 swap, Z06 ported heads, cam, Titanium valves, Kevlar clutch. Now building a forged stroker (383) and all the ponies! Old setup was rod-knockin on heaven's door...
I dont have a large sheetmetal brake set up yet, or a flame table, but with those two things I would be able to pump out almost whatever you need besides the fastening hardware..
Hoping by the end of the year (long ways off I know) I am hoping to have built another building just for metal fabrication down by the other shop!
BTW how does the truck feel now?

Truck feels pretty good - a lot softer going over bumps and such, which is nice. Still need to dial in the compression, etc. But it is holding up nicely and definitely worth the investment!

Good to know about your shop set up. I'm not in a rush, so maybe towards the end of the year will work out anyway :D
