Yes, it works fine when plugged into the 20/28 Y harness. One thing I did notice is that the Scion mic plug will also fit into one of the ports along the lower edge. I didnt plug it in to see for sure but maybe Toyota duplicated the port? It would have made for a simpler install and saved me the expense of the Y harness as I dont have steering wheel controls.

Hey, I think that connector is the harness that would go to the mic in the rearview mirror.
I believe the other end maybe up with the overhead console.

That connector comes from my factory installed mic in the head console. Everything is plugged in.

So I pulled my head unit out again and made a few discoveries. First I found a wiring diagram flaw on TIS. Its amazing to me how many times Toyota has change the radios in the Tacoma. So much so they lose track. Anyhow after checking and tracing wires and operation I think it's working as intended. My stock radio I was able to push the talk button on the steering wheel and the nice lady work ask me for a phone number or say the contact. With the new radio installed when I push the talk button a window opens on the display and say voice recognition not available. I think this is normal because the radio does have the feature. If I push the phone button a screen come up with a number pad with speed dials, contacts and call history. Place a call and everything is hear though the speakers and the mic picks up my voice.

Now onto getting the back up camera to display which I'm pretty sure I know how to do.

Got you mixed up with the other poster.
I thought you bought a separate mic.
Anyways, glad you got it working.

Mine is a 2006 with JBL to 2013 Entune with JBL.
I purchased a newer overhead console with MIC and made my own harness with the connectors I posted earlier.

Was one of the connects a R17? That's what I need for my back up camera.

Perfect, thanks. Is that what you used and where did you run the wires too (connector by fuse box or connector in head console).

I have been trying to figure out if this will allow me to use the factory microphone with an aftermarket head unit. I have a pioneer agh 8400bt and would love to use the factory mic but the Headunit obviously doesn't facilitate the current connection. Would this make it possible to use?

I swapped a 13 head unit into my 08 using the PT546-00120-CH (28 to 20 pin) harness and the PT 546-74120-MC mic. I got a OEM mic in the overhead panel from a 11 Tacoma and owner cut the harness so at least I got the plug with some wire that goes into the OEM mic. Does anyone have a clue if I can cut/splice the wire of my existing mic to work with the OEM mic?
