    Much appreciated! 28 and 65 looks good too.

    Candid question, since these things are not meant for frequent removal and insertions. Should I'd be concerned of wearing off the contacts after frequent used?

    Man I hate dyslexia... I've corrected post 1 but will not bother to search 5 pages for more.

    Besides that, do you have anything useful to add to this conversation?

    I don't think advertising the fact that it is MT will do much. Next time they'll just send one who can drive manual.

    Yea I've seen those stories where they just pull up, hook up, and drive off with whatever.
    Toyota Tacoma is the gold standard...

    As they say in Australia:
    If you wanna go the outback take a Range Rover.
    If you wanna get back take a Toyota.

    Maybe someone with more knowledge than me can answer, but I would guess only on a button press. However I hate to make assumptions.

    Well guys, thank you for all your inputs
    So far, I'm leaning toward
    1. Inexpensive kill switch. Which seems to be as good as the spot you hide it. I might opt for a fancy immobilizer such as IGLA or GHOST II if the goddam companies can finally bother to respond and tell me who are certified to install those in my area;
    2. Club type steering lock;
    3. Loud alarm, likely with an independent power source;
    4. Maybe put my law enforcement grade wheel boot for a while. Hoping the thieves aren't living to close to my neighborhood and will get tired of visiting my annoying truck and forget about it.

    Insurance has never been in the business of giving you more money than the truck is worth, so you're right; they don't really care if someone overpaid for a vehicle, and its not their responsibility to put you into a brand new truck at an inflated price. The point was, you pay for insurance to protect you from unfortunate events like theft, and in many cases (not yours obviously), you might not want the rats nest of damage back from the thief. And if you do get it back, which you did, you pay insurance to handle all that mess.

    Can't source it from Toyota Canada, God knows why. 3 parts retailers I tried in the States didn't want to ship it across the border. I'm kind of p!ssed at Toyota Canada because of this.

    You need someone who lives in NY to take a sojourn across a bridge with his lunch and his...portable music player...

    Meanwhile I received some goodies from Amazon: A long range baby monitor with noise and movement alarms and a 12v to 6v converter.

    Then armed with my Fluke and my Soldering Iron, I butchered the poor thing so the baby terminal is now taking its power from a motorcycle battery instead of a 120v outlet. Tucked that setup in beat up inconspicuous bag on the floor at the rear. Toyed a little with the mic sensitivity. Regular cars passing by are not triggering the alarm but louder vehicle or anyone touching the truck is going to trigger it.

    At least I had fun doing it. Baby monitor is sucking about 60mA. So I should be good for few days before recharging it. But I'll check the motorcycle battery voltage tomorrow to see how fast it's depleting.

    Another thing I did was by a $30 remote motion sensor doorbell off Amazon. I have the bell in the house and the motion sensor where the QI charger is. As soon as the truck door opens it rings in the house.

    Now, I have zero interest in running outside and confronting thieves in my driveway in the middle of the night. But, I would trigger my house alarm which would make their working environment less comfortable I’m sure.
