So after a few year faffing around with Land Rovers I sold my Defender last month.

My 2017 DCLB TRD Sport should be ready for pickup on Friday. it will be nice to get back into a reliable truck.

Any other Quebecers/ Eastern Townshippers here?

Yeah, I can see that, high maintenance for sure. The old Defenders are low speed off road buggies and can't cut it as a versatile high speed modern vehicle. That's obviously why they were discontinued. I saw one the other day on the 401 struggling along at 120 km/hr, and it was being killed by its owner using it like that. That's the thing that makes a Tacoma so great - it's fantastic off road, and as long as it's driveability hasn't been killed through rough mods, it can hold its own on big roads at 140 with Audis and Porsches.

the defender was awesome for tooling around town and local dirt roads, autoroutes suck. The post war engine design does not like to be run at high rpms for longer than a few minutes and it was a 2 door. the missus never wanted to go too far from home in it. I think i have found the perfect combo daily driver/light duty off roader/weekend camper/road tripper in a Tacoma.

I love that colour!! I had a 1980 4x4 Hilux that colour. It was my first Toyota and it was the model that introduced North America to small 4x4 pickups that were tough and excellent off road.
