I have a 2009 Tacoma ext cab 6spd manual. 73k miles. It seems like i get a weird click sound when the car is idling. It doesn't seem like it is in the engine. Anyone else get this? Sounds like a fan or a belt.

Go to Google and key in:

    Toyota 4.0L engine tick

Lots to read. Anyone with common sense will be able to distinguish valid remarks from BS

You will notice that 5th Gen 4 Runners also have a 4.0L engine, but it's not really the same engine, especially north of the block. That said, both the 2nd Gen Tacoma 4.0L and 5th Gen 4 Runner 4.0L engine exhibit a ticking sound that's simply a result of engine design.
