My 07 just started doing this last night, and I am not excited.

I spoke to my service manager and there is a TSB on this exact problem. Therefore hopefully not a dime out of my pocket.

However mine is currently working again so I cant have him diagnose and do the TSB just yet, for now I just need to get down there and checked out how bad this resistor is fried.

    Thanks doe the fix!!

Yours is a 2007 and is well past the regular warranty period. TSBs for free are only during the 36Kmile / 36month warranty period. After that I would expect to pay. Not wanting to pop your bubble, I would rather you know the facts before you go to the dealer.

    Recalls are always no charge.
TSBs are free during warranty, paid after.

If you just want to fix it per the TSB, it should cost you about $40 to DIY. I installed the new resistor and spliced in the new pigtail connector in about an hour the other night. You can read my personal thread about this ordeal here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/another-fan-motor-thread.388963/

Everything is working really well after a new cabin air filter, new resistor, and new pigtail connector.

I have an '06 Tacoma, and I have been fighting a similar problem for about 2-3 years. The fan was intermittently working, and would always work if I turned it on high and pounded on the fan unit. This was fine until that stopped working, I looked through the posts, checked the resistor wires, resistor, checked the air filter, pulled the fan to make sure nothing was caught in it. Nothing seemed to work, as a last resort I pulled the fan out and took it apart, cleaned everything and re-assembled. When I put it back in the vehicle, not only did it work, but I have even more airflow than ever before. Here's a picture of the "dust."

I dealt with the no low fan speeds for years, most of the time it worked. When they finally stopped working I did the updated circuit board and then the high speed didn't work. I pulled the switch panel from the dash and the high speed circuit was burnt. I had to replace the switch panel. Moral of the story is DO NOT wait to replace the circuit board in the fan motor...it will cost more money in the long run.

    Hey guys,

I've read as much of this thread as I can. I'm sure I've missed something, but here's whats going on.

A few months ago my 06 taco started doing the only works on high thing. Every once in a while working on all of the above. Then it went out completely. No blowing at all. I've unplugged the wires to the resistor, the third wire of course is burnt to hell but i cleaned it some, move it back, and replugged with no results. It seems like I need a new resistor but I wanted to know if there was anything I should do before I place this order on Amazon. Thanks in advance.

Just guessing here, but it seems like you're experiencing both resistor AND connector problems. I'd replace both and see how it goes.

I might have an extra resistor if someone is needing one. I just replaced mine, it still didn't work, low and behold it was the connector. I have not tested the old one out, but it looked to be in great shape, I would gladly pop it back in and give it a try if someone is interested. Not free, but pretty cheap.

If you can test it, and possibly post a pic that would be awesome.

Cool, I'll test it this weekend. Don't know how to post a pic of air blowing, but I'll see what I can come up with.

Time to join the club. On my way to my daughter's house on Christmas, and wouldn't you know it was HOT here in RI. I actually tried turning on my AC and noticed that my fan didn't work at any speed. Left it on high, and after a few minutes it kicked in. It worked at all speeds. On the way home, same thing. Fan didn't work at all, after a few minutes it started working. Next day, nothing. Since it was working intermittently for a while, I'm assuming the fuse is ok (I'll check it anyway.) Just started researching this issue tonight and ran thru all 11 pages. Since my fan didn't work on high only, I'm thinking my fan is probably gunked up. I will see what I can see tomorrow and check the resistor connector, wiggle wires, and do some percussion tuning on the fan housing to see what happens. I'm not very experienced with electric motors, but I'll see what I can do.
