Hey guys and gals. Is there a fuse specifically for the fans in our trucks? My cabin fan just up and stopped working. It was working, I turned off the truck and got back in 10 mins later and it wasn't working. I checked the plugs into the back of the panel, they seem fine. The A/C button, temp control knob, and I assume the blower selection knob are all working. The fan just won't turn on. I looked in the fuse box and don't see one specifically for the fan.
Anyone else have this issue? Was it the switches in the knob?
    Thanks for any info.

Wait, really? Cause I'll take the damned thing out and beat the crap outta it. I have no love for that panel. The temperature control squeaks whenever I increase the temp. It pisses me off.

Just wiggle the connector that's located under the glove box.
Do a search and you'll find lots of posts on this one.

the blower motor resistor was replaced for this... perhaps yours is totally fried

    87138-04052 Resistor, Blower

it involved cutting off the blower motor resistor connector and splicing in a new resistor

This happened in my FJ60 once.
Dropped the blower, bits of hay and leaves inside.
Blew it out, cleaned and lubed with corrosion-x
    http://www.corrosionx.com/

and, it ran for another decade til I sold the truck.
The resistor can fail as well though.

Be ready to do it more often. Mine started doing this in the winter. I finally got a chance to oil it up but now it just squeaks like crazy since some of the oil dried up. Time to do it again, but I think I'll just buy another off of Amazon.

So I have I think similar problem with 09 4 door cabin fan. For a few years it would randomly cut out on anything but max fan setting and then just start working ok in a bit. This week it took a dump and only works on high speed.
Do I have the same problem? On an ‘09 with 150k will Toyota fix it or am I on my own?

With 150K Toyota isn't going to fix it for free.

Get a new resistor and connector and fix it your self.

Also check the connector that goes to the motor is has been known to overheat also.

Resistor and connector needed for the fan speed.

Look at both connectors on the motor. I'd be willing to bet one or both of them are burned.

If they have burn marks you need to replace the connector plugs.

    Part number 90980-10916 Connector

Part Number 82998-12380 Wire and terminal

Not sold as a kit, sold as each. So you will need one of the plugs and two of the terminal and wires.

    FYI...
Much longer thread on this at “fan speed switch not working”
@Jimmyh Thanks for the part references. From the other thread I found resistor/connector kits on Amazon for ~$15 (old style). But my temporary (maybe permanent) fix was to use a poker to tighten the connector terminal a bit and spray with DeOxit. Working fine now (resistor module is not defective) so I’ll keep fingers crossed.

Actually, here in Arizona there is not much use for any switch position but HIGH any way.

Solid whack only was a temp fix for me. First replaced the resistor. Easy peasy. Then later the blower motor failed. Bought oem and it was an easy install. Now it's quiet (as quiet as it can be) and pushing out air like it should

Any insight into what or why the motor would fail? Usually, in my experience, you get +200k from motor. But I guess that there is not direct correlation between miles and fan on time.

Don't know why it would fail. I just know that the first thing was only working on High. So some whacks fixed this for a week or so. And then it happened again and the whacks prove less and less effective. So I replaced the resistor and the plug. Alot of burnt marks. Then fine for awhile before it just up and stopped working. I was just happy that it was a DIY for me (Thanks to TacomaWorld).

Got new inline connector with crimp splices and new resistor module today. Guess I have some work now to do.
