How is ffdp not related to seven dust. Just curious I like ffdp and the way their songs have true meaning behind them. It may not be metal but it's a good band for sure but my fave is probably lamb of god, dimmur borgir, disturbed, metallica, atreyu, and more

Sevendust has been working hard since 1999. If I read what you wrote and interpret correctly, you are saying FFDP has more meaning behind their lyrics? I will just go ahead and not even respond to that.

My reasoning behind my dislike of FFDP goes WAY back. I hung out with Ivan a handful of times back in the early 2000s. He is from here in Denver. I used to be a singer in the local metal scene here. Ivan was in a band called Motograter at the time. Motograter was a MUCH MUCH better band than FFDP. Ivan was a super nice guy. He came out and saw a show I was playing at the old Whiskey Bills bar in Lakewood. After my set I asked what feedback he would give me. He said the set was really really good but I should dig deeper to find more meaningful lyrics. Go deeper with the content. I took that feedback to heart and went to work on my next handful of songs. A few years go by.....I "retire" from the scene (married, kids....band just didn't fit anymore). I hear Ivan has a new band coming out. I get pretty stoked. I hear FFDP.......I laughed. I could not believe what happened. Ivan was now writing tough guy, monster energy drink, TapOut, UFC bull shit music!!!! They are just a joke as far as serious musicianship goes. They are pop metal at best. That's fine if you are into mainstream rock radio but I just couldn't get down with it. I listen to each new album as it comes out just to hear if he has gone back to what I know he is capable of.....so far.....no......just more disappointing "bro metal" and I refuse to get in on that douchebag party.

But.....this is whats best about metal. Way too many bands out there. Everyone will find what they like and none of us will feel the same....ever. The one thing we can agree on......metal ain't no stupid Lil Wayne/Beyonce/Drake/Wiz Kalifa nonsense and even FFDP is better than that ALL of that bull crap.

 fuck all the main stream bull shit but I understand your point but I never heard his old band so don't have anything of his to compare they were like the first metal band that got me into metal I think that's why I still take a liking to them. At least we agree that mainstream bull shit sucks terribly and this didn't turn into another dumb ass Internet fight with some keyboard tough guys lmfao I'll post a link in here shortly you should post up some concert experiences and such if you'd like

I'm more into punk rock, but I do like metal. Most of the stuff I listen to is either classic punk, classic metal, or a fusion of punk and metal.

With that being said heres a quick list of my favorites

    Metallica (80's)
    Samhain
    Danzig
    Suicidal Tendencies
    Primus
    Alice in Chains
    Pantera
    Doyle
    Cancerslug
    Bad Brains

Fusion of punk and metal then I would throw in agnostic front, bad brains, fugazi, black flag, gorilla biscuits, minor threat...... etc etc etc.... (DC punk/metal oldschool fan here)

How do you feel about the 'new' AIC? I loved Layne. His voice and lyrics made a huge impression on me. So sad to have lost him so quickly. The new AIC is really good though IMO.
