Recently during a novice Overlander class we got to put my Extreme Outback tire repair kit to good use.....

This led to my recommendations to the folks there and then after I got to wondering what others were actually using/liking.

So let's hear what everyone carries if you have actually used it and any thoughts.

Just some Walmart plug sticks and the T-handle version of the tools. A can of ether for seating beads and my OBA Setup.

are the handles on the tools metal or plastic?
That has always been my concern with some kits is the plastic tool handles and have them break when shoving hard with either the reamer or plug tool

Plastic and have been used many times in 10+ years. You don't have to be a 400lb gorilla on the tools.

Well, my tire kit got used the other day at work, it was the cheap slime version plug kit.

Trying to plug an E load rates tire on a coworkers truck and bent the crap outta the plug tool, but did get the tire sealed. Now off to find a. Better quality version

I’ve installed one if their compressors, it’s a beast. I saw they have the repair kits, but I bought a cheap one off eBay

The overlanders could have turned the wheel to the left a little, or taken the wheel off..... At least they didn't make you dig a hole to plug it from underneath the truck....

I don't overland, therefore I'm probably just an idiot, but I remove the flat, put on the spare, and patch the hole when I get home so I'm not wallowing in dirt.

+1 for harbor freight $4 plug kit. I usually keep an extra bottle of rubber cement too, because the little tubes in the kits dry out.

Yep. I have had a plastic handle install tool break on me. I would opt for a quality plug kit.
I have had good luck with this kit (after having eleven flats with the stock Taco tires):

I have the Smittybilt kit from 4wp. Seems like good quality the couple times I’ve used it. I think with any kit you just want to make sure the reamer and plug tools are all metal and good quality. Plugs and glue are going to be all the same.
