I highly value the opinion and feedback offered by our community. I'm in the process of launching my own company and have just placed the finishing touches on my website.

I'm looking for feedback and positive criticism on the look, feel, functionality and effectiveness of my site.

Feel free to post all feedback on this thread, alternatively, you can PM me if you feel it's too harsh. :)

Looks good, I work for a clothing company and do all their photography so we're constantly updating our website and having to check up on it. I like the layout of yours, it's inviting and has a nice family-oriented tone. Easy to navigate. That's the key really, navigation...people have very short attention spans and little to no patience when it comes to trying to find their way around a website. If it isn't easy then they're gone.

My only criticism would be that some of the images in the main banner look like they might not be high enough resolution to accommodate larger monitors (like the one I'm viewing it on here at work)...a few of the images look a little fuzzy. Most people use laptops, iPads and smartphones though and I'm sure they wouldn't notice it. Just something I always pick up on because I deal with photography every day, lol.

Is that a typical A/C company website for your area? Shit. That's impressive. Here, I'm lucky to see a Yelp page for an A/C guy, unless it's a franchise. I'd call for an estimate simply based on that website. Nice.

Looks like it's well laid out and the buttons/links are easy enough to comprehend and follow. Hell of a long domain name though.
Also if I become critical, the dog appears to be panting which would correlate that the A/C is not working properly after being serviced. :boink:

I'd agree with the images being a bit too low of a resolution. Some other feedback.
    • From a design standpoint, there are areas where there is only one or two words on a line. Personally, I don't think it looks good (your welcome paragraph for example)
    • On some of your interior pages, I'd tweak the images to align with your paragraph. (your heating page, for example, if the image aligned more with the header, it would look cleaner)
    • In general, I've noticed a lot of stock images. While these are perfectly fine, I'm a fan of varying it up as much as you can. It really wouldn't hurt to hire a photographer for a day and get A TON of different shots you could use.
    • I've found that using dropdowns is MONUMENTAL on FAQ pages. It cleans up clutter and people don't have to scroll too much or search to find their question.
    • Heating and Service area - why not have the header be a map with your service area colored in with a lighter color?
    • In your header, the 24/7 and your phone number don't look aligned. My eye was drawn right to it
Other than that, I can say it's a really nice, clean site. HUGE improvement over the general quick sites that are in a similar industry so kudos to you!

That's all I got for a quick 5 minute skim. Hope the suggestions help.

    Hey guys,

Thanks for all the great feedback. I'm pretty proud of myself considering this is my first attempt at creating a website. :)

OP, what CMS did you end up using. It looks like Squarespace. I'm just curious

Thanks for the compliment bro. And to answer your question, no, most A/C company websites are very poorly done. I'm looking to differentiate myself from the competition, image is everything!

I have a shortened web address which is what I plan to use for marketing:

    AirCareTeam.com

About the dog panting, it may just be subliminal messaging. lol

The blurry images are killing me, those are all actually all hi-res files that I was forced to shrink do to the fact that Google dinged my page speed over it, which affected my SEO rating. :(

I recommend using photoshop with them. You can maintain image resolution without having a big file. All you need to do is control the dpi. Don't go too crazy though (usually 100-125 is perfectly fine for 1080p). It'll cut down you image file size but will keep the resolution looking great! If you have questions about process, I can make a quick image tutorial

Looks damn good, very pleasing to the eye and intuitive. Agreed about image res, could be better.

I agree with the other feedback.

I like the layout and it was easy to navigate on my phone.

Keep it simple. My guess is a lot of people are going to call you when it's hotter than balls and need their A/C fixed and probably won't care too much about how your website looks.

This that and the other thing.
Looks good man! good luck with everything! when I install AC's I recommend to the customer to every now and then rinse the outdoor coil, with a gentle water pattern like shower, or no nozzle at all in a up and down motion to keep the coil clean of dust/leaves and grass clippings to maximize air flow across the coil. and here in Canada anyways, cover the a/c in the winter, even just a sheet of plywood to keep snow load off the thin aluminum fan blades, if they bend the unit shakes and becomes noisy over time. might want to add something like that in the AC DIY Maintenance section? I know liability is always a concern so its up to you, just a thought. I also noticed there was no mention of what brand of equipment you sell, unless you did that on purpose so they contact you or you sell a wide range or manufacturers?

You can do the CC subscription for something reasonable per month. If you don't use it much, you can find elements for under $100 and that'll do about everything that the average Joe needs
