    Ok, Beaver. :)

This list is for actual buyers who will be served in numbered order as soon as the spacers come off the CNC machine and I go to pick them up.

After each one is all boxed up and ready to ship, I'll PM you my PayPal account. This way your money isn't tied up while you are made to wait.(God, I fucking hate that... :frusty: ) The time between when you pay and when you actually receive what you pay for will be as short as possible.

I'll post pics as soon as I have some so you can see what the black ones look like. I've already seen a sample of the material and it looks and feels just like machined black anodized aluminum. It's dense, hard, and structurally very stiff just like the stock intake manifold. There shouldn't be any problems with getting a smog test as it will appear to be an integral part of the stock manifold. And the ECU will function normally because the spacer doesn't alter the A/F ratio.

    Jeez... I'm sorry, Guy.
You were supposed to be the first one on the list. You're on it now, :) and still as agreed at half price for taking your time to run it at the drag strip and to post your times. So I still get to be your sponsor. ;)

    Ok, nettto. :)
The nylon blocks are supposed to finally be coming in this week (but don't hold your breath ). When they do, the CNC is already set up to begin immediately. While the machine is running I'll be down there getting some video as it's a totally fascinating process. You'll actually be able to see how your spacer is manufactured. :)

    Greg

edit: Also take a look here:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/4-cylinder/286076-tooter-2-7-intake-manifold-spacer-20.html

I described the installation process as I was actually doing it so you can get a good idea of exactly what it entails. By trial and error, I came up with a mechanically sound method of attaching the two lower intake manifold arms floating out there 2 inches away from the engine block.

The issue is that the upper studs for the manifold flange and the lower studs for the two lower manifold arms do not come off of the engine at the same angle.

The first production run of the tooter II.VII intake manifold spacers began today! [IMG]

Driving home from the shop, I did a little spontaneous video of a 2nd gear/3rd gear run from 25mph to 70mph, before having to slow for a sharp curve in the canyon road.

The only sound you are hearing is from the 3 foot long Injen intake. There's no exhaust sound because I'm running the super quiet stock muffler.

I also have a bunch of pics and video of the CNC machining of the first spacer, and will post them as soon as they are uploaded.

Here's the nylon blocks that arrived today... :)

Notice how the drill bit keeps backing out to clear the flutes of material for nice clean holes.

Elapsed time from a virtual concept to the reality of production has been just a little more than 2 1/2 months. :)
When the kits are all assembled and ready to ship, I'll begin a new FOR SALE thread.

The very first production tooter... :)

Unfortunately, production is going to be held up for a week while the engineer works on another project.

A jig needs to be made to hold the spacers from the inside ports so that the perimeters can all be finished in just one pass. The nylon minutely flexes under pressure of the bit, so a jig will totally resolve that issue. That project will begin in a week, and it will make producing the rest of the spacers much quicker and easier.

This is a totally new process and we're in uncharted waters,
so there are tricks we're learning as we go
which will form the foundation for future production.

Yesterday as I poked around under the hood, doing nothing as there's nothing to do to a 30K mile taco, I noticed the placement of the trans. dipstick. The tube is attached to the intake so it'll have to be moved for the spacer. There's a bulge in it that makes it appear to be a two piece tube so it may just be able to twist there and give the clearance or it may have to be bent. In either case something will have to be done to reattach it since the mounting point will be moved. Shouldn't be a huge problem, but something for the automatic crowd to be aware of.

Something else just hit me. This is possibly not smog legal so maybe eliminating the tooter engraving would be a good idea to make it more invisible. Smog laws are a little gray in many areas and while there's no specific law against a spacer that I know of, it is a modification of the intake system and probably illegal. Someone with specific knowledge will hopefully chime in and correct my assumption.

I don't believe that will be an issue as the logo gets buried under all the other stuff when it's on the engine.

    IMG_7174_zpsb459ad48_afd15eec5efc87b2ad6990625b7fba259f0b7665.jpg

The spacer is made out of exactly the same material, and in exactly the same color, and is formed in exactly the same profile as the stock manifold flange.

I'm picking up the spacer on Thursday or Friday and will post detailed pics of it attached to the manifold. Then you can decide for yourself. :)

Here's a video of the CNC machine removing the cutting marks from the nylon blocks and truing up the faces...

Wow... good point. I have a stick and didn't even think of that.

I did discover that simply reversing some of the hose brackets allowed the hoses to be supported in their original positions while still being able to bolt onto the manifold in its new position. Could you post a close up pic of your trans dipstick so I can see what you're talking about?

    Thanks,

    Greg
