exactly right. this is a very sad article, and my prayers go to her family, but as i and a few others pointed out the cab isn't in that bad a shape. too many people don't wear their seatbelt. i too am a fireman (volunteer for 6 years) and the worst call ive ever been on (not going to describe, not pretty) ended up with a 20 yr old girl dead that if she had been wearing a seatbelt wouldn't have had more than a scratch. . . BUCKLE UP EVERYBODY!

May she rest in peace. It sucks, but we must all learning the dire importance of the all mighty seatbelt. It personally almost takes me a min or two to put it on. Idiotic, indeed but I need to do better. Just put it on before you even take off cause you never know.

 

That's terrible. So sad to hear. It always hurts to hear about something like that. It is always the driver should have done this, or should have worn that, and while usually true, the result is the same. Prayers for everyone.

 

Exactly. I don't feel comfortable in a car without a seat belt on and my car does not move unless everyone has a seat belt on. They might not be the most comfortable things in the world if you don't like feeling restricted but it sure as hell is a lot more comfortable than your face going through the windshield or worse, a coffin.

And once you get into the habit of buckling up, it becomes so automatic you don't even think about it.

This^^. I don't even really take note of putting mine on, its a habit. I tried driving without one and I couldn't stand not having it on.

Sad indeed. I'm surprised with all the computer controlled devices in cars/trucks now that someone has not yet instituted that if your seat belt is not fastened your car won't start.

ughhh....

 

I have a few friends that bypass that by buckling the seat belt by putting the whole thing behind them. That is probably why that device has not been put to use.
