I'm looking for advice regarding any required fender trimming before I invest in a lift / rim-wheel combination.

I have an 06 tacoma TRD double cab stock.

If all goes well this March I'm going to finally install a lift and either 17" or 18" wheels. I'm probably going to go with a set of Toyo Open Country MT's with which ever size wheel I settle on.

So which combination would require less trimming?

    3" lift, 17" wheel with 265/70R17 32" tires
    or
    6" lift, 18" wheel with 33x12.50R18 33" tires

Is there anything I can do to prevent or reduce the the trimming required like using spacers?

I don't think you'll need to trim anything with the 265/70R17s with the 3" lift. Sports run them with no lift at all, and I don't think many people even need to trim (even though the stock size is 265/65R17).

Also, depending on where you are, you might want to double check the road legality of a lift over 3". In MA they like to ticket you for anything over 3", but it all depends on who/where. MA is dumb anyway.
