Figuring out my CB install

Ok so in the picture of your mount. You are going to need to drill a hole on the tab where the mount is and than run a grounding wire from that hole you drilled in the tab and run it down to the frame. The mount needs to be grounded, not the stud.

 

Are you sure on this? And if so, will the bedcoating need to be sanded off?

 

Yes. Just a sec i will show you a picture of my mount.

 

the FRAME, under the bed. Like I said- look in the drivers-side wheel well. There should be a black ground wire with a bolt right there that is perfect for this.

I just looked and its fine.

 

if you're hoping on the bolt I'm talking about, it's already being used as a ground by something else.

 

Ok my mount is kinda rusty right now and needs to be painted. But to give you an idea. Your bed bar will need to have the hole drilled in it and than sanded down around the hole so you can see bare metal.

 

I get it! Thanks. But when you say from the antenna....does that mean attach it to where the antenna screws onto the spring?

I just checked mine and my tab really isnt big enought to make a hole. It might barely fit!

 

Really it can be anywhere on that bar. I would make it as close to the stud/ antenna as possible.

 

Ok. Well you and Bradley have two different styles for doing this. I might try his first since it doesnt require a hole.

Has anyone thought to check the radio, it could be a bad radio, and what is your standing wave?... that will tell you how good your putting out

 

Thats my modified mirror mount on my toolbox i have it grounded to the bed bolt.

your radio should have a calibration lever that well tell you what it is registering

 

Where do I look for this? Sorry I don't know anything about this stuff.
