I had a similar issue in November. After waiting a month I received my deposit back and moved on to a different dealership. It worked out better with money saved in the new deal. I now have a build date of Feb. 8th and a temp vin #. Good luck!

are there not any Toyota representatives on this forum? A couple of the other forums I am on have them. For example, coloradofans has GM reps that will help take care of these issues.

That would only hurt the OP, as he would be stuck with a Nissan just to make a point

This same situation happen to me except with a kayak haha. Bought one then got destroyed in shipping. They were going to send me a new one and they sold the last one they had the day before shipping "on accident" then said it'd be 6 months before they could get me another. I emailed the manufacturer and told them the dealers BS And then got a call 2 days later saying a new next year model would be shipping out my way in 24 hours.

Now translate to my truck?!?! HELL NAHHH you should probably cut a bitch

    I'd start here: http://www.toyota.com/support/contact-us

They got an 800 number. I remember I had issues buying my Corvette years ago and called GM and asked why a dealership isn't interested in selling their flagship car. They didn't know either, I got a call back the next day with 5000 off MSRP plus another 3000 off, that put me right under the invoice of the vehicle.

That is completely inexcusable. That dealership clearly lacks integrity.

You definitely need to take your money elsewhere. By staying with them you are essentially telling them what happened is ok.

I agree. They don't want your business bad enough. As much as I like Toyotas, I would buy a used one or wait or buy another make before being jerked around.

Write a nasty Google Review and Yelp Review, this also will get dealership attention as it spreads bad news quickly. More and more people are using these online reviews before they frequent businesses these days and the dealership management surely pays attention to them.

I would ask the dealer person you are speaking with (should now be the dealership manager, not the sales person), what will they do different this time so you are not slapped in the face again? I think that will drive some BS answer from them, but you will have more data points to call Toyota if that is the route you want to go, or just go to another dealer. It seems to be a dealer problem. If the answer is not like the other person where the dealer found them another truck within a week...I would look elsewhere.

I stopped by my dealer last night looking for touch up paint, they had 2 Tacomas, and when I asked, they were not sold yet. I am sure your dealer can find you one from another dealer (if they care about your business).

I would go elsewhere however contact the better business bureau and lodge a complaint with them. Also whatever state agency that deals with unethical business practices.

Costco, Sams Club, some Credit Unions and AAA will often get you a specific no haggle discount. Either offered as "below MSRP", or "over invoice". This is usually, but not often better, than you can get walking in off the street. In any event, it's worth trying. You can use it as a fall back if one dealer say, "Everyone in the region is selling these trucks for $2,000 over MSRP, but I can get you a 'deal' at $100 below MSRP."

You can't just walk in and say "I have AAA, Costco, etc., give me a discount" You have to log into to your AAA, Costco, etc. account, and get a referral. Not all dealers are approved, or in the discount program.

In my case AAA was a better deal; but then again I'm still waiting for my truck to even get on the allocation list . Lazy dealer perhaps? who is not too motivated since I'm not buying out of his very limited stock, he's not making as much as as he could from Joe Schmoe walking in off the street, and he has to wait weeks to get my money...? Who knows? Seems like a nice guy, but come on. Considering trying another dealer, nearby but further away, who says he's also on the AAA program.

So I talked to the manager to see what he would do to rectify the situation but basically was told it was my fault for not offering to pay 4k over MSRP like the guy who bought the truck I ordered. I got my money back from the deposit. So if you're interested in buying a Tacoma, don't go to Carson Toyota.

Take your money and run to a decent dealer. Lots of sleazy dealers out there but there are good ones too.
