A large factor in the F series sales I assume is fleet sales. They sell the hell out of some work trucks.

Yeah there is a big price different when looking at comparably equipped mid-size to full size options. Ford seems to be offering more incentives lately and my local dealer has so many F-150's they had to start putting them on a different lot down the street. Meanwhile my local Toyota dealer has only 4 2015 Tacomas.

After incentives the Fords are far cheaper than Tundra's. Compare apples to apples. Ford lots typically have a ton of Lariat models, which is basically a Tundra Platnium without the 1794 package. If you are quoting $52K prices on Tundras, you were probably looking at TRD OR models, which are priced close to F150 XLT FX4 package 302A.

I work a bit in operations for my company at my location. Tundra is very expensive to buy and operate compared to the F150.

Can you get the 1794 & the Platinum package together?

The trucks I saw were 4x4 Tundra Crewmax with either of those packages (but not both) & a few small options like blind spot or rear cross traffic. They were all in the low $50s on the Monroney.

I have buddy that does Ford fleet....and fricken hates Fords, so it all depends on who you ask.

Honestly I rather have a Toyota, but nothing from them currently really excites me.

Doesn't happen often, but if you have driving them as long as I have...they'll fail every now and then. ;) Usually little stuff, nothing major.

Yeah, I would be real hesitant buying the first year of anything...as I said elsewhere...nothing on the market that really excites me. Deezul Collie does peak my interest...but I want to see one after it has 100,000 miles on it. I highly doubt it will go 200-300,000 miles without much issue like Toyotas do. They have reliability going for them, but the '16 spec-wise it is kinda "meh"...wrapped up in a skin that is hard to look at.

I don't know the way Toyota prices their upper end, but a 1794 is basically an upgrade on the Platnium much like the King Ranch is an upgrade on a Lariat model. That's the biggest difference. Toyota, in my experience, usually has more low end trucks on lot than high, where Ford with the massive fleet sales is the other way around. This is why it's important to talk to someone and do some internet research before buying.

I just did a F150 out outline for fun in the USA. A 2015 302A XLT FX4 crew cab with the 3.5 L Ecoboost is 45K. 0% financing too. You can add on all the little options for well under $50K. If you want the same truck as the Platnium, the Lariat is basically another $3K over whatever XLT you price out.

They really aren't that less expensive, I can walk down to the Ram, Chevy or Ford dealer and buy a half ton...and hell some 3/4 tons for the same price or a little less than a Tacoma.

The expense comes in when you start adding a bunch of luxuries, nothing really to do with engine tech.

Ford seems a bit pressured to up the sales of the F-150. Kind of rare to see such big incentives on a first year model for a new generation. I was pretty impressed with the pricing comparatively speaking when I looked at them on the lot yesterday. GM is making ground on them now. GM sells substantially more pickups than Ford now.

I think TacoJohn is taking about things like grill shutters and aluminum construction. In general, the slightly lower average price of a midsized means a lower profit margin. I think everyone can agree on that.

Problem with Ford is, the new bodies and well... the EcoBoost, didn't really do anything for fuel consumption....guessing people are over the hype.

Ford gave up a lot of sales because it couldn't roll out enough F150's for fleets in the first 6 months. We didn't receive our first 2015 at work until a full 4 months after it was ordered. Usually the fleet trucks show up in 6 weeks.

Wasn't this a Tacoma thread lol. Seems like it's become a Colorado stroke off thread again.

Yeah I kind of feel bad for Ford now lol. They were pressured to do all of this crap to adhere to CAFE regs. Though by most measures the EcoBoosts are great engines, macho men don't like telling people they have a small V6 under the hood. Anywho, back to Taco-talk.

I did the same kinda search but only at our local dealers for shits & grins. My limited cell service at home & no other internet connection makes it painfully slow.

In our region it appears the 1794 & platinum are unique options and can not be paired though they share many of the same options.

As far as actually buying I agree. Not that I'm planning on a purchase of either at the moment. I do have a 2016 Camry XLE with tech package on dealer preference. Tho if it doesn't hurry I'll be changing to a 2016 Accord Touring.

I see an awful lot of left-over 15's on the lots here too.

Oh in the end, they are just dumb trucks that are horrible investments....I am pretty much over all of them. Later, I am going fishing... ;) :D

I mean I would have loved to see more mpgs but if you think about it on a 4x2 v6 you'll get about 40 more miles a tank on city and about 60 more on freeway.

True, it is a good improvement, but with all the tech and tricks, I am surprised they didn't get more out of it.

I agree especially out of the 4 banger.
I'm kinda disappointed reading over the packages and seeing what you have to pay for some features.

Well, I like a lot about it and I am excited to drive it and see what she feels like. But that was a lot of development effort for a moderate MPG gain. I do wish the MT was closer to the AT in MPG as well. Curious at how the driving feel/acceleration numbers will be different.

The 3.5 liter sounds like it will be a good motor. 1 less torque more torque overall getting to rear wheels.
