I've updated my own, as have many others:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/software-update-for-the-manual.562550/page-99

One of the last posts in that thread makes reference to a TSB that includes M/T...

BTW, upgrading to 04B13 is probably the best thing you can do for your '16 M/T besides OVtune.

Same here. Today I found it best to drive in S6 and ECT. A few times I was really impressed how it held 6th Gear. Other times it shifted way too easily going up a hill. No different a hill that 5 miles previous

Woohoo! ECU Cal ID: 896650404000... Guess I can add this to the list of things to get taken care of when the new cats get put on this weekend. Gonna feel like a brand new truck on top of a brand new truck!

I've wondered that, too. It never seems to be the same. Even on the same drives. Another strange one... in 2500 miles I've never seeen anything above 18mpg in D. But I noticed today that in S modes, I'm seeing 20+. So, it's obviously possible to get 20+. So, maybe 2500 miles isn't enough to complete the learning process for D? Just speculating here.

There should be a couple of Cal ID strings you can read... one should have 04A60 in it...

I still haven't tried S, but today I had to hit ECT a couple of times to pass and go uphill while trying to accelerate. I need to try S, but this wasn't the day.

Try s5 for a couple of days. I use it 95% of the time and when the road is flat and no wind, s6. 21 mpg average.

I am now getting 21mpg in D, so it would be even better if that went up. I will try it.

I know the whole point of D is better mpg. But so far, I've been very impressed with the mpg in S modes.

As a disclaimer to mpg, I drive somewhat aggressively and a lot of my driving is city based around Los Angeles. Tons of stop and go, any time I hit the pedal to go, I am well under the 15mpg mark and then when it settles into gear at speed it will go well over 15, makes sense to me. That being said, on the per tank gauge, it seems like I could drive for 10 minutes at speed and it slowly creeps up my mpg by a tiny bit, whereas the stop and go driving drops it significantly and almost immediately.

When I told my dealer I was never hitting much over 14-15mpg, they said you can't really pay attention to it when you have less than 10k on the truck. I'm now just over 2500 miles. Does any of this sound accurate to anyone? If so, any experience or details would be greatly appreciated.

If my mileage was 15 I’d pay attention to it BUT my mileage did magically get better around the 10k mark. It jump about 2 MPGs.

Cruising at 70-75 on flat roads it’s easy to get over 20 for me in D. Hills and wind really hurt this trucks MPGs.

I think the gauge numbers can be deceiving. The best way to get a real handle on mpg is to calculate miles + gallons at the pump. I'm going to do this starting this week.

That said, the further you drive, the more accurate the per trip gauges will be. I think? But mine is similar. When accelerating, it's well below 10mpg but then usually settles in the 15-17's once I'm at speed in town. Stop and go will keep that number low. Here's where the guages are deceiving... when you calculate at the pump, your final average is probably going to be up near the higher end because you spend most of your time at speed, not accelerating. If you're watching the gauge all the time, it can seem like "wow, I'm seeing a lot of low numbers".
