Do you know what the specifics of the warranty? I'm at 59000 miles. Truck is only lifted 3 inches and has slightly bigger tires. Nothing else has really been modified.

Wheels and tires won’t hurt your warranty for the ECU.

As for your mileage, not sure what warranty you got but I believe Toyota comes with 3yr/36k.

It's amazing how much hell dealers give you for wanting to get the tsb done... Every tsb I've ever had done I had to fight for. Dropping mine off for the 10k service and they said they won't do it if they can't recreate the issue in their test drive. Bitch I drive it every day and don't care about your 5 minute test drive.

I had the 58 installed today at my 5000mi service. I said I wanted the TSB 62, but they did the 58. Either way I got no hassle. Not sure if it’s placebo or not but it seems to shift better especially 1-4.

Other items on the list were a “wobble from the rear.” Unfortunately it wasn’t the wife wobbling for me, but unbalanced tires and a they also found the alignment out of spec. All were addressed and fixed. Overall the truck has been great and I hope to have many years with it. Hopefully the TSB fixes the shitty shifting.

Also the dealer was Malloy in Winchester VA.

Glad you had a positive result. We need to hear it all - good and not so good. My truck went through a phase where I thought it was reverting back but I changed my driving habits and it seems better now.

hi all , went to my dealer today for my appointment of this update , arrived as usual thru the express drop off so far so good , went to get in the loaner and I hear a gentlemen say so this guys a mechanic , I turn around not thinking anything and the service manager is talking about me. I was shocked at first , service manager says to me so your an internet mechanic , I said not at all just doing my research as a owner, I was then told that this update would cost me 115.00 dollars I said no it doesn't and I have an extended warranty till 100k , was then told that his staff is to busy to read codes for nothing . I will not be returning to Crestmont Toyota in pompton plains new jersey ever again , which is were I purchased my current Tacoma , and my previous tacoma

I'm not a violent guy, but that might be too much for me.

I would drop a line to toyota about the treatment you received.

They get paid for work that’s covered by warranty so I don’t understand why he pushed back! And regardless of whether you’re a mechanic or a forum frequenter that’s none of his business. I would have stayed there until I got managent involved and/or Toyota on the line. Too busy for his customers? Maybe he should close up shop and go home.

Received the tsb update from dealer and paperwork showed TSB 007716. Truck drives much better now and after hooking up OBD II scanner it shows CID 0400 which is the desired update!Screenshot_20181027-163914.jpg

Towne Toyota in Ledgewood, no problem, out in an hour and that was a busy Saturday. Bought two Tundras and the Taco there, always fair with great service if needed.

I took my Tacoma in to get the TSB update. But unfortunately I still had to pay for the service. They claimed that the TSB update is not a recall nor is it covered through the warranty. They charged me $49, less than what they originally quoted which was $67.50 when I dropped off the truck. Another thing that annoys me is that they didnt specify what TSB update they did. They didn't list it on the receipt either. I have been trying to push my truck to see if I could replicate the problem again but it seems to be fix. I've noticed the throttle is a little bit more responsive with less throttle lag.

how many miles on it, should be coverage under basic 3 yr./36000, there should also be a update sticker under the hood. ive had 2 of these done no charge and no questions asked,,

Derrick2972 - The dealer is just another shady one, or tech/service advisor is purely ignorant. The TSB (federal emissions warranty Toyota) is applied for 96 months or 80k miles, and if you are under that, I would have them refund the money.

I had the update (this is the second) and it has improved, but they never seem to understand what it is or have even heard of it, until I show them the TSB and then they seem to remember.

As the TSB states you have until 80k miles. I'd demand a refund, they straight up scammed you. Threaten to call the attorney general

Report them to Toyota before you go back to the dealer for your refund. Toyota needs to know that their own dealers are either thieves, or incompetent.
