It is definitely picky about fuel. You can hear the classic rattle pinging at light throttle right before a downshift when it bogs. With premium, no pinging.

Hi, brand new to this and my truck, but would like to know if there is a way to obtain specific TSB's info to provide to dealership to reflash for transmission issues reported here. Read that some places just do it, others want to act like it doesn't need it, etc. The only place I've found so far to obtain them is TIS, linked from Toyota.com. Didn't think I'd have to pay for something like that. Also, I would have to get an OBDII reader and check before and after to verify that it was actually installed, right? Totally new to this, so any advice is appreciated.

Thank you. Been reading hundreds of comments on the subject, just never seen a list. Hoping to get in to get truck checked over and hopefully get the TSB'S updated. Really enjoying all the information here for a noob, didn't want to jump in on anything too early since at this point I would be a total poser if I pretended to know what everyone is talking about after only having truck for four days, but I definitely did notice some strange transmission behavior from first drive that seems to match what everyone is saying and would like to get it dealt with. I'll see how this affects the drive, but am considering looking into OVtune if there's not an apparent difference. Just want it to drive like a normal vehicle, not a sentient AI bent on defying me at every turn.

Just got home from dealership, couldn't sell them on this TSB 0062-18. However, I did get the 2 year old TSB 0077-16. No labels on hood but my paperwork indicates PERFORMED TSB EG1811 REPROGRAM ECM (PCM). I figure I got the latest update. Can't say I noticed a difference, but this is mainly due to short drive home in heavy traffic straight from dealership. I'll report back and keep my Pedal Commander(helps tremendously, but not a true fix) turned off. If this doesn't do the trick, heavily considering moving into a Tundra. Still debating if I should even consider regear as last resort.

Should have clarified...dealer performed the same TSB # you mentioned (077-16) and the latest TCU version was flashed. Good luck.

I went ahead and took these photos on the way home yesterday .In the first one I was just getting out of the throttle because I was coming up on slower traffic. I had been running 60 to 65MPH. The second one was taken a few minutes later as I was turning off a major highway onto my dirt road. Sorry for the reflection as it was very sunny (you'll notice it was 80 degrees) and I was running the A/C.

Some of us must have something wrong or are doing something wrong. I have a hybrid that I consistently BEAT the estimated mpg. 50 - 55 no problem.

I drive similarly in my taco and get 15-16 same drive.

Are you mostly city? Hybrids excel in the city whereas the truck would suffer in stop and go traffic.

I think my worst tank on my OR was in the mid 17 mpg at the height of winter. I can easily get 25 mpg doing 60 mph on flat ground, but most of my driving is in the city and I'm in the high 19 mpg range as per hand calculations.

I guess I am trying to say that my driving works in the hybrid, so its not a heavy foot or anything. I seem to be way on the low end as well. 15mpg on my daily commute.

Yea, but you just started out on a full tank of fuel. What's the average when you are pulling into fill-up? I have a station at the top of a steep hill and I can coast down after fill-up and get 60 MPG on the read out.

The worst I've ever done was 19.6 pulling a 16' trailer with 2 full sized ATV's....I don't have any steep hills to climb or coast down. I'll normally fill up around the 260 mile mark and the worst I've ever done with a lead foot was 23.6MPG.

I have not read all of this thread so I hope this is the right place to put this, not complaining just asking for help understanding my issue, 16 TRD Off Road A/T w/44,450 miles I've had no problems at all, great truck, very happy. Last Tuesday driving down the HWY and slowing down to a stop light when out of nowhere I felt a strong jolt in the trans, I actually thought somebody bumped me from behind, it was that abrupt, came to a stop at the light, all seemed ok, then sped up to 30 mph and bam it does it again and it kept doing the same thing all the way towards home after every light and getting worse so I headed for the dealer, last 5 miles was really worried I wouldn't make it there, by this time it was stumbling at any speed. My explanation to service tech was it felt like the trans was stumbling or stuttering. 2 days later they updated me and think it's a dirty gas issue. 5 days later it's still at dealer (this is a very big and reputable dealer) They call me daily with progress updates. They just called me now and said they are now in touch with TOYOTA and on Monday TOYOTA will get involved! Their best mechanics at this very big dealer can't figure out what's wrong with my truck. This is not a dirty gas issue. Is this what people here on this thread have been experiencing?

Mine is doing this now and heading back to the shop next week. Mine started after getting new leafs and new rear differential. Prior to that I had something similar that the TSBs discussed in this thread addressed enough to make it better.

HaciendaMan I think your symptoms are different than what TSB-0062-18 addresses. Mine (when not fully warmed up to operating temperature and having to jump out onto a major highway with speeds of 60 to 70 MPH) would stumble (miss) when accelerating between 50 and 55MPH). I had TSB-0059 downloaded which changed the shift points between gears to higher RPM's and have made a world of difference in the sluggishness but didn't do anything for the stumble. I recently went to 93 octane and I haven't had the stumble issue occur.

That’s amazing. My 2017 never got remotely close to that.
